I think legalization may not support this... But....

Possession/Cultivation: Qualified patients and their primary caregivers may possess no more than eight ounces of dried marijuana and/or six mature (or 12 immature) marijuana plants. However, S.B. 420 allows patients to possess larger amounts of marijuana when recommended by a physician. The legislation also allows counties and municipalities to approve and/or maintain local ordinances permitting patients to possess larger quantities of medicinal pot than allowed under the new state guidelines.

S.B. 420 also grants implied legal protection to the state's medicinal marijuana dispensaries, stating, "Qualified patients, persons with valid identification cards, and the designated primary caregivers of qualified patients ... who associate within the state of California in order collectively or cooperatively to cultivate marijuana for medical purposes, shall not solely on the basis of that fact be subject to state criminal sanctions."

Not too long ago, there was a bust of the very first medically certified garden in Mendocino County. I don't know what the policy is about links here on the forums, so I won't link to it... but google "mendocino 99 plants medical federal dea". It will be the first few results. The Feds do care about smaller gardens (99-plants) in some cases. Be very careful with the Feds, they do what they want when they want.

Just something to think about....

Our 2 Cents,

We too have a growing collective, 22,000 watts, not for profit paperwork filed, a good lawyer, blah blah blah. We grow 99 plants period...even though the total plants allowed by the sum of our members is well over 1000. Our lawyer told us what has been said here regarding the feds: 100 plants can get you 5 years.

Listen gang, it doesn't HAVE to be SOG. We grow trees. I have 45 plants flowering at any time and my yields are as good per sq ft and per watt as when I grew SOG. It just takes some new techniques and alot more veg room. Please don't risk messing with the Feds. They can and will put you in prison for 5 years if they catch wind of your op. There is no medical defense with Uncle Sam. This is straight from my lawyer. The time is coming when we can stop growing in fear of the DEA, but it's not yet!

Be careful.

Guys no one in their right mind needs over 99 plants if they know how to do a perpetual grow right. SCROG that shit you can pull a pound off of one plant with a 400w light and 5 gallons of root space. You tell me now that you need more than 99 pounds and why and i will tell you you are insane, greedy, and should be arrested by the feds. 99 plants is your limit period end of story forever until its legal unless you wnt the feds up ur ass and no one wants that be smart stay safe and keep on growin brotha just dont even try to get away with over 99 because you may for a while til the feds catch on and then your goin in man

In general, collectives are advised to exercise caution about growing very large gardens. Even if local guidelines permit it, don't assume that you can safely grow 600 plants just because you have 100 patients. Beware that cultivation of 100 plants or more is punishable by a federal mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years. Collectives are accordingly well advised to stay at 99 plants or less to reduce the risk of federal prosecution. :wall:

You can meet a lawyer for a while... to get the situation under-control

I hate to just repeat what everyone else says but your better off with multiple locations with 99 in each one. ONE, if you dont have a lawyer you are totally screwing yourself... either you hire one now or when your in jail... but its harder from jail.
Second what happens at the raid is no matter what, they will cut down your plants, make a mess, maybe break some bulbs... either way its all fucked and I hope if it does happen you have money saved for what comes next. Then you may or may not get charged, if the cops didnt totally hate you then you may not get charged for months. If they have it in for you they will call the DEA in a second for that kind of plant count. When you get to court youll have to present your collective argument, they will hassle you about knowing all of your patients and finding out if they were also involved in the growing. If you have a good lawyer this may go ok but then you'll piss off the DA and maybe then they call the DEA. This all mainly happens because of the attention you attract by having that many flowering plants, takes up a lot of space and that means that many more cops are showing up to the raid. That much more pressure on the DA to nail you for being so cocky. I know a specific situation where someone called on a collective grow and when they got there the cops said they couldnt just let it go because it was so many plants. They even tried to talk it down to the DA but the charges were still filed. So really if you decide to do this, get a GOOD lawyer, donate money to your community and maybe kiss ass to the local cops cause youll need all the help that you can get.

All this vs having 99 plants at a house or a small warehouse. Chances are if you get knocked it wont be the "important" raid of the week, maybe theyll come in calm and ask if your medical. You can sit down with them and go over the paperwork and if it all seems reasonable they would rather walk away then make a big deal and have to waste time going to court knowing they'll loose because a jury wouldnt convict a collective growing together in a 10x20 space. With 500-600 plants they start to throw around words like marijuana enterprise.

Just be smart about this because its not about it being state legal its all about it being federally illegal. You dont want to go to Federal Prison. And to end my rant, if you get raided you loose it all... split it up cause ive lost it all and its not fun.

That lawyer looks great. I will have to keep that guy in my contacts.

Either way I would take some of the advice from the more experienced growers and just spread it around. Why risk federal prison when you don't have to?

I know u wanted to do more than 99 but in the end if u have to deal with that number u should do the biggest indoor bushs anyone has ever seen... that would be the shit with that 20,000 watt setup :)
