Abraham lincoln was AMERICAN,wtf has he gota do with anything, thats like sayin the egyptians took 20 years to build the great pyramid but barack obama says it was built in 30 with the help of black slaves.

Just my two cents but, if I remember correctly the date is based on tablets they found decades ago that ended on that date. Since then they have found more with date going on for another few thousand years. Also, even if it did stop, doesn't that coincide with the invasion of the Spanish?

What i'm saying is if you believe the mayans knew the end of the world, then sure as hell why not abraham lincoln, he had more resources at his disposale than your average mayan emperor, so by default his word should be more trustworthy. lol. come on, mayans knew less then a 3rd grader today and you want to take their word on when the world ends?!?!?!

well theres a story that says the pyramids were built by slaves of egypt ( not black ) this is a false story, i was using it as an example of something that only an american would say, basically im trying to say there are too many different religions and beliefs in this day and age that it has fucked a lot of people's heads up. ALSO looking at my older post now ur right it didnt make sense i was very stoned lol pretty much melted my way into the chair.

WHAT???? are you retarded or just plain old stupid? Even nowadays we cant replicate some of engineering wonders from the mayans and to top that there advanced cosmology and understanding of the universe has outweighed what the ' trustworthy ' western world has known up untill this last decade. so please dont talk shit, u havent got a clue, i would be more worried about the fact that you trust america my friend thats 3rd grader mentality right there

Why is it always assumed that people from long ago knew less? In regards to history, of course they know less than us, but you can't say the people who built all the structures the Myans did, were dumb.

FYI- The world ending in 2012 is hogwash, no one knows, even Jesus said He didn't know, only His father did.

It's assumed they knew less because they did. Sure they built some crazy shit that would be hard to replicate these days (like just about every culture before and since), but they didn't have TV, Internet, mortgages ... They had nothing else to do but think of how to build crazy shit...well, that and ripping still-beating hearts out of innocent people to please some pagan god. But it's silly to say people long ago knew as much as we do. Knowledge is built upon lessons learned in the past. Take growing this plant. I know way more than the people who first starting cultivating this thing years ago and I'm a newbie. I learned from others who learned from others who learned ultimately from the pioneers. All I'm saying is maybe the Mayans did know when the world ends, but unlike them, we can actually destroy it. Now that's progress.
