What Do The Poor Owe To Society?

I don't like the word 'owe' in this context, but I follow your meaning.

From where I sit, the poor should take advantage of opportunities offered to each and every American regardless of station.

And seek to better themselves with the ultimate goal of being productive members of society.

And stop doing the same shit that is keeping them poor.

But all that is counter-intuitive to the government/entitlement complex. It needs poor people. Which is why we still have the poor forty-five years after LBJ's War on Poverty.

Progressives depend on the poor, therefore they will always be with us.
I guess the real question is: Where do you sit? The poor do not have the same opportunities as the Middle and upper classes. Do you even wonder how a homeless person thinks, or feels. From all your posts in the three years I've had the displeasure of reading, I know you don't have any compassion for others. Just a full throttle let me get mine and fuck everyone else. The poor will always be with us, it is how we treat the problem that defines us as human beings. How could the poor owe anything, they don't have anything. I guess if they were given something, like a chance to better themselves with the proper support structure, they could owe thanks. Maybe that should be the question: How do we get the poor to owe thanks?

Everybody, rich or poor, owes what they can give. A poor person with a job is contributing their fair share to society, even if it is a low paying job. A poor person without a job, who doesnt try to get a job, and just lives off the system, is a drain on society.

They have their time and labor, same as everyone else...

BTW, I dont consider the poor a problem. And I dont think that poor is a permanent condition like you seem to.

Starting in 2014, poor people are going to OWE a private company or the government healthcare payments and/or fines.
johnny was being kind to call your canard 'irrelevant'.

it is actually FALSE. completely, 100% false.

those earning up to 133% of the poverty level will be eligible for medicaid.

those earning between 133% and 400% of poverty will have their health care costs subsidized on a sliding scale.

you, however, in addition to getting free rent in your parents' basement, will also get to stay on their health insurance for another 14 years (based on level of intellect expressed in your posts, i am guessing you are 12 years old).

I once knew a Professional Beggar in Atlantic city, begged during the day, at night drove a Porsche home. Hes gonna qualify for the free healthcare. My income is only $38k a year, but none of it is taxable so I will get free healthcare too. Wow where will all the money come to pay for it? Probably from the taxation of your unemployment checks?

Everybody likes to tell me how much the rich owe to society...

So, tell me how much the poor owe to society. The poor use the majority of government assistance programs such as unemployment, welfare, foodstamps, public education, emergency healthcare, etc.

So, what do they owe society?

Ummmm nothing they are poor dumb ass

Well I think you meant to insult NLX, but instead you called poor people poor dumb asses. A Comma ( , ) would have helped if placed between poor and dumb. I could be wrong though, you might not like poor people or something.

What no drama said about the punctuation. I dont expect much on the internet though.

Ok, so we have established that the poor dont owe society anything. What happens when a rich person becomes poor? Should they get back all the money they paid into society? You know, since they are poor now and dont owe society anything?

38K a year and you are right wing, Man I'm impressed. Let me loan you a gun so you can shoot yourself in the fucking foot, maybe the head. I made that much while collecting Unemployment half the year, I used to be a union carpenter. Why are you so concerned about tax breaks for the rich, I'm really confused here, you know, under the rescind the tax breaks for the rich plan, they would still get a tax break for the first 250K, whick qualifies you for almost 7 times your income. Duhhh, wannabees are really dumb, aint they.

I think the rich owe the poor. I feel nobody owes society shit. It just sucks to know people go out and can blow stacks on hookers and still pay the bills but some families struggle to eat everyday day. Some people don't have a choice and are just born into fucked up situations where they have no choice to live poorly because of mistakes their parents made. However it is their responsibility to make something of their life it just takes time. Thats why im in school. :)

Well excuse me for not being all proper and shit. I am 100% competent that I am is I'm, just too lazy to sit here and fix every damn thing when you will get the same message either way.

btw I'm typing on my iphone so it takes a little longer to fix these silly mistakes. I think I'm over this forum.

I'm not right wing, im clearly in the middle of that kind of partisan bullshit, way above that childish label.

yep 38k is all I make, still enough to put 15k a year into investments though. Not having any debt and a big ass solar array on my property sure helps with things. About the only things I pay for are property tax, (Although I am 100% exempt for 6 more years due to solar stuff), home and vehicle insurance and water/sewer/garbage. Since none of my income is taxable, I Don't pay income tax or SS, although I do get the benefits if they are still available when I retire. My Biggest expense is child support for a couple more years, about 12k a year for that. I am a War Vet, so the big medical is covered although im a pretty healthy guy and other than a few stitches here and there and one work accident I haven't spent any time at the docs in the last 40+ years. I make do just fine on 11k a year, its easy to do when you own everything you have and never rely on credit.

You should know that you don't need to borrow me a gun, I got more guns than you do.

Med, the maximum weekly benefit for Nevada is $393 as of July 1 2009. if you multiply that by the 52 weeks in a year you come up with $20, 436 and half of that would be $10, 218 which isn't even close to 38K, keep making up lies.

In my humble opinion the rich need the poor more than the poor need the rich.
what he said^^^

the poor are not exactly known for their ability to defer immediate pleasure for a better reward later, not great investors. a lot of this 'wasted' money gets blown on stuff that fattens (or creates) bottom lines.
