Moving to Georgia

Im thinking about moving to Atlanta because i live on the east coast and i hate the cold. Also, i want to live in a big city that has a healthy economy and i think atlanta is the largest city in the southeast. I also love the atlanta braves so being close to turner field is a huge plus.
But, i checked norml and saw that their marijuana laws in georgia are really harsh. A upm is a misdameanor and they can suspend your license for 6 months even if you werent in a car. You can face jail time and big fines. Scary stuff!!
My question is, does anyone live of have lived in georgia or atlanta? Whats it like living in a state with such strict laws? Anyone who has ever lived in a place where the weed laws were very harsh cn comment, but atlanta and georgia comments would be preffered.
Is smoking marijuana really taboo down there, whats the culture like?

I live out side of the city but lived in the city durning the hay days. If you don't put a sign in the front yard saying pot grown here and don't have nosey neigbors it's all cool.
I don't go to the city to much any more to much shit happens there but lots to do here. Got to old to club any more.LOL but if you move here good luck

i'd recommend texas if your going down south.

pretty laid back weed laws. a friend of mine (given she's a girl, not hot, but she's got huge knockers) got pulled over and was arrested with 2 oz of weed.

she was charged with a misdemeanor, paid a 700 dollar fine, and went to work the next day...... they didn't even seize her car or cash, or anything..... this was in Coppel TX i believe....

georgia i don't know, i've only been to that airport (atlanta)and if that's any indication that state sucks... hehe.....

redivider now now unless you have lived in GA. it's not cool to say it sucks. just like any where else you live it's the way you live your life.

na ive been there and i think it sucks too.......hard to find a state as good as cali thats for sure.....the only states id live in are states where medical cannibas is legal and out of the states that its legal cali is still better then those states so for me my choice is easy...stay in cali......plus the weather is better.......

The reason i dont move to texas is because its much hotter there in the summer. Even in the dallas area the average temp is 95F and 96F in jully-august, a full 5F higher than georiga. Also, you might be suprised to hear that Texas's higher education (grad school+) is weaker than georgia's.
I was very suprised to see how relaxed Texas marijuana laws are though, you can have 4oz before its a felony
Interesting note, in maryland ANY AMOUNT is a misdemeanor, i guess that means .1G-10killos+ hahah

I have had friends in atlanta get caught with a gram during a car search, the officer
just acted real intimidating and did not mention it. When they got back in the car the bag and weed
was sitting in the middle of the dashboard(cop put it there). They are pretty strict though and i
would not bet on this happening if you get caught just thought i would share that story.

Also the people i know around atl are all sketchy and a pain in the ass to deal with but you
could probably hook up with the right people and not have this problem or if you grow your
own you would be fine as well.

Also we only get 'snow' once or twice in January then thats it for snow down here


Also i may or may not live in Said area...
but probably maybe possibly not.

I lived in Georgia in the late 70's .....No. Ga that is.....partied around Hot-lanta a bit........loved the mountain foothills.........had good weed always....love those Georgia ladies.....honey drips when they smile!

I live in GA not ATL but close. Its not that bad you just have to be smart. I know a lot of people here that get caught with weed because they freak out at the sight of police or they just walk around in public smelling like a huge blunt. As far a growing tell no one people are shady and are quick to steal your shit if they see an opportunity.

I live in GA, but about 150 miles from atlanta out in the sticks. I have no experience with the cops here after 3 years. Better than Florida though where I moved from.

Tictic, i havent had a run-in with the cops here in years either now that i mostly smoke in my house. I doubt youd ever find me with weed in a car, maybe on the subway hah but doubtful. Glad to hear that some of the cops are cool though.
Oldreefer, I have heard the nightlife is awesome there. Deffinitly a major attraction hah.

SouthernGanja, i checked out Florida laws and yea they are just as bad, sad to see the south is so anti-weed.


Just realized though, SWIM has DUI and a refused Chemical test from 4 years back now and is going to law school...So it would still be on their record when their looking for a job :/
Not even sure when and if the DUI/Chem refusal ever comes off, even if SWIM was a minor
