space needed for veg plants * t5 lighting*

i would like to veg some plants under some t5 lighting, should i use normal t5 lighting from the lighting shop or the sublaster t5's, are they worth it?

also how much space would i need to veg say;
5 plants?
10plants?

thanks

Well I assume you're reffering to T5's versus HO-T5's (High Output T-5). You can veg under normal T5's, but with the prices on florescents getting smaller each day, you might want to put in the extra couple bucks for a HO lamp. I currently veg/flower under my 4' - 6 bulb HO T5 from Hydrofarm and it's been treating me quite nicely. Here's a couple from my T5 grow:

As far as space, it's really dependent on what method of growing you're going to use. If you did a SOG setup, you would need much less space than if you were to just flat-out grow the girls and top them (making them far more bushy). You could do ten plants in as little as a 2' x 2'x area if you really wanted to.

Are you doing hydro or soil? That will also help us help you.

im doing in soil mate and i was asking about the perticular brand the sunblaster t5s if there really worth it or of they just a brand gimmick, and i dont want to cramp nothing just want average requirements for them number of plants vegging for around 2 months if anyone could help

for what it's worth i have both sunblaster strips and sunleaves multiple tube t5 fixtures. the sunleaves are similarly priced. my cheapo light meter reads the sunleaves just a tad brighter than the sunblaster strip. i don't know what this means for sunblaster vs. a cheaper brand, but i think it proves for sure the sunblasters are not "as bright as it gets". i've never used another brand t5 but to be honest if you can get one that's high output i don't think there would be a whole lot of noticable difference between brands. i do believe i get a lot of extra benefit from having the t5 fixture with the built in reflector vs if i just had some strips and a homemade reflector.
