What should I do for smell?

I am about to start a whole new process to me.. Growing.. I will be growing in a 4x6x9 closet, about 4 plants at a time (Will get pics soon). I am going to have 2 fans going in the closet, one above pointing more downward, not directly on the plants, but you get the drift, and one pointing out of the closet..

Do you think the smell is going to be over whelming? This is my first grow, not really sure what to expect for the smell, also , I am growing Northern Lights..

I am looking for the cheapest solution, please let me know what you think...

they will smell durring flowering and poss have a little stench in veg. it will smell like theres bud in there, but i have herd nl is one of the low odor plants. Carbon filter is easy to diy but you need a blower for that. they sell smell absorbant canisters you can put by plants, having a high moment and cant remember the name

Alright cool, so the absorbant canisters are what I will probably end up with. Not too worried about a small scent, but I was worried about over whelming. I appreciate your help!
I was also looking into carbon filters, but I think I will buy one if I start growing more or need to cover more scent.

ONA gel and blocks are a good idea. I dunno if that's what dam612 was talking about or not, but I have friends who use them.

I grew 2 NL plants & controlled the smell with bounce sheets over the fan intake. Now I was growing with t-8 flouro tubes & the buds where not very dense.. was ok smoke though. Smell was not an issue at all.

I then grew 2 Bubbalicious plants under 2 150 watt HPS lights & FUCK the smell was a HUGE issue. When it started to flower holy shit my whole house stunk. I installed exhaust fans to the exterior & that made the entire yard stink. I had to go as far as take pieces of fur I had bought at souvenirs & put them under the deck so it looked like a skunk had crawled under & died. I used bounce, charcoal, those things your looking at (air fresheners) & it was still too strong. I had to chop 2 weeks early just because I couldn't control the smell.

I have since constructed a new charcoal filter what I hope will control it for the next grow but please be away of the smell. You may get used to it but the instant someone comes near your grow THEY can smell it.

I don't know if it was the strain, the lights or what but the smell was uncontrollable without major work/$$.

Yea, that is why I choose NL to start with, I am a noob grower that has been learning a lot in the last month and there aren't even any seeds planted yet, I just want to make sure I know all that I need to know to at least start off on a strong foot. Thanks for your input and

" FUCK the smell was a HUGE issue. "

Made me lol.

NL is low odor....I've never grown it...but i did just finish four plants three two footers and a four foot bush...I decided that I would just vent into my basement...well let's just say that did'nt work ....so I hooked the extraction fan up to the chimney........the neighbour promptly informed me of the smell outside...so I finally stomped f...ing around and got a filter=no worries!!!! The untreated smell of four plants could easily be mistaken for the half treated smell of 100 plants!!!! You draw alot of unwanted attention when you smell like fresh growing ganja. To grow you should get: a light, an extraction fan, and a filter.

Agreed Klonerone. Once that smell starts if your not prepared its like a broken water pipe. You are in panic mode trying to deal with it.

Be prepared before you start. We all learn from our grows. First grow I learned about not over feeding the girls, 2nd grow I learned get the best lights you can & that HPS RAWKS!! The third one I learned that you need to be prepared to the smell of good buds.

One thing I don't understand. The N.L. was good bud but the smell was perhaps 15% of what the bubbalicious was. Is it the strain or the lights that causes that? My Bubbalicious was far more healthier IMO that my N.L. If the N.L. will stay at the same smell level grown more healthier then I might switch back & grow that again.
