my new dwc/ aero !! What do you guys think?

Seems like stuff like this is unnecessarily complicated. On my first grow i did an aero/dwc for the first few weeks. Ive done a few dwc plants since then and honestly i see no difference. I would venture to say that the results you get with this probably wouldnt differ much from just doing a straight dwc, without all the bells and whistles, but to each his own.
i decided to build this unit as a sort of prototype. i am going to move to an aero sog but i need to put the next batch of seedlings into medium so for now its a dwc. I want the excellerated growth of a dwc but not the root problems. I am going to build 3 more units like this one. once my flower is full of them ( and all old containers have been harvested) i will ad drains to the buckets and make them aero. they will drain into a seperate ress. this way the roots dont have as many issues and i can still have the flexibility ofa modular system. i also plan to have the them on a stadium stand so that all canopies are even throughout the flower cycle

i have had problems groiwng plants in dwc if i vegg them too long(over 7 weeks). Around week 6 into flower the roots start to deteriorate. I want to try making aeroponic so the root get sprayed with nutes frequently but the roots dont soak in the resevior. the reason this unit has drippers and sprayers is so i can use it as a stand alone unit untill the current dwc containers are harvested. At this time i will cut drain holes in the bottom of this unit and drain it to the resevior and replace the drippers with sprayers. then it will be aero. all containers will drain to the res and the res will pump all watter to the s[rayers in the containers.
i say excelerated growth because in my limited experience the dwc grows significantly faster than soil(especially in the first few weeks). i want to maintain this growth rate but i want to eliminate the root problems i have been encountering in week 6 of flowering (14 totall weeks of roots soaking in dwc by week 6 of flower).

then something is wrong if your roots are deteriorating at 6 weeks into flowering. i have a mother lemon in 5 gal dwc for 1 year now, hell a buddy of mine as a mother in dwc that has been the for almost 3 years now. id say you need more air in your system. how much air were you adding to your res?
II upgraded after i lost my last plant. I am now using an activeaqua commercial air 6 outlet 20watts- and 45 liters a min.
i am using this for 1 roughneck with 6 5 inch net pots

THanks for the info. that is actually encouraging. I was starting to consider changing my nutes. I was running fox farm trio with sollubles and cal mag, sweet and dark energy. I have only been doing this for about a year and it seams like every grow something else goes wrong. Oh well i guess eventually ill know how to handle it all.
I have noticed that the new airpump can raise the res temp. Do you ever have this problem? i am currently using large ice packs to rotate out of the res but i want to find a better or more efficient solution. I wanted to avoid a water chiller. this is one of the reasons i wanted to try a new system. Anyways if you got any other tips on keeping the roots good let me know. I think sometimes they get tangled in the resivior and the restriction kills them. I am not sure

I'm all in for the ride. What's your spec on your grow? I.e. strain, lights etc.

do you use RO water? Cause if not theres probably no need for the cal/mag
Regular city tap water and/or regular applications of H202 should take care of this.
