Day 24
Topped all plants last night. Plants had reached 5-7 inches in height and had 4-6 nodes so I figured it was time to pull the trigger. Used Uncle Ben's topping technique on all 6 plants. Gonna let them veg for about 7 more days and then go 12/12 (currently 24/0 cycle)

Day 29

If you have a cab from Sunlight Sheds with a Hydroheart please read this...very important!
My unit began to overflow about two weeks ago. At first I thought it was a issue with the control unit but after switching that out it continued to happen. Finally realized it was a design issue with the unit.
The combination of small hydrotron pellets falling through the baskets and root mass were causing flow problems with the unit. In my case this was causing the first few baskets in my unit to overflow. The Hydroheart consists of 8 plant containers placed in a loop driven by a control unit. Due to the flow issues the last few containers were not getting as much water as the first ones so the control unit continued to drain the reserve in an attempt to fill the unit...unfortunately the overflows have runined a wood floor in my closet. Fortunately I've always kept the power strips on top of the unit of this could have gotten really ugly.
If you have a Sunlight Sheds cab call them and ask for a set of screens they have recently developed that is supposed to fix the flow issue. The BS thing is you have to call and ask for them (free of charge). You would think they would send them out automatically as this design flaw could cause electrical shock or a fire. I actually feel really lucky that only my floor got messed up. I guess I'll always remember my first grow when I look at the warped wood floor...lol.

Back to business...

Plants range from 5.5" to 11.5
700 ppm
6-6.5 ph
75/53 temp/humid

Switching to flowering today 12/12 due to size of plants.

Little nervous as I'm going to have to completely disassemble the unit once the screens arrive from Sunlight Sheds to install them. I can't use the reserve tank until the screens are installed or it will overflow again. I can't delay flowering any longer so I figured once the plants show sex. I'll take out any males and at that time tear down the unit and install the screens.

Thanks for the heads up on the need for screens. I noticed the pellets falling through, and wondered about that. I'm on day 9 with a mini cab, but I'm not using LED's.

Do you know if this design flaw is only effecting the mini coolers type or do they affect all hydro quick set ups?
If your system has a "hydroheart" I would suggest calling them asap. If you have a cab designed before the hydroheart came out you should be fine.

Just finished converting a closet in my house to a stealth grow room.

My first post included this picture of the closet.
closet 001.jpg

Same picture but I've closed off the closet by building a wall & wipe board for my home office (still have some trim work & painting to do).
photo 1.jpg

the closet can only be accessed by going through a closet in the room next to it. I'm going to replace the tye dye with a fake wall at some point.

We're officially on a babe watch as I'm hoping the plants show their sex in the next few days!

Could this be a first sign of a female? It's a straight on shot so you have to look real close.

I'll try and get a pic from a better angle tonight before lights out bongsmilie

Wanted to provide an update to the overflow issue.
I received the screens from Sunlight Sheds on Thursday & installed them Friday morning. Installation was not easy as I had to disassemble the hydroheart in the middle of my grow.

It's working much better now and water levels are consistent in all dwc containers. I've had decent results so far working with a poorly performing system so I'm anticipating the grow to improve. I think one of the big reasons my plants currently range in size from 6"-18" was the issue with water levels.

How did the screen installation work? Did you just pull up the cup, and install the screen, or break apart all the pots? I am assuming that the screen goes into the grow pot. I was hoping to make it through this grow, but a couple pots are starting to back up.

I had to break apart all of the pots. You want to make sure there are no hydroton pellets in the bottom of the containers or the hoses that connect the pots. This was a major pain in the arse but very worth it. The system is working very well now, I highly recommend you do it or you could have serious problems as your plants get larger.

Day 16 Flowering

Identified 2 males yesterday so plant count is now at 4. Based on previous posts from people with mini cool cabs this sounds like a good number for the size of the unit. :hump:

Pretty sure the rest are females but still keeping a close eye on 1 of the remaining 4.

Today's stats
15"-23" inches tall
76/52 temp/humid
1300 ppm (nutes only)
6-6.5 ph
