Anyone here done time?

Rhetorical question,
I imagine there are quite a few here that have been locked up.. Some for marijuana related offenses, some (like myself) on other charges. Nobody want's to know what you've done, but rather I ask these questions.

How long were you incarcerated for?
What was the best thing you took from the experience?
What's the best advice you could give going into it?

More importantly the last one,
I go back ~February 10th for 6 months - on a future breach I know I will be receiving for non-completion of community service hours. Just trying to let myself be more at peace of returning to the gladiator ring that is hell. Maybe someone else will pickup some information, I myself do not have alot to add however I am relying on the community on this one.. I only ask the time of incarceration, as 2 years + is fed time up here in Canada. A whole new ballgame so i've been told.

How long were you incarcerated for? ~30 days
What was the best thing you took from the experience? I learned how many innocent, and good people there are in there.. It amazed me, most people didn't want in your ass or the food on your plate..
What's the best advice you could give going into it? Comply with your probation/parole, do not talk to the guards (if you must yell CO, nothing else), follow the "rules of the range" and give up your peanut butter if the big black dude wants it.

Ive done over 14 years in texas prisons...been out and off parole for 7 years now...don't plan on ever going back....best advice don't do the crime if you cant do the time...and inside be a man stand up for yourself and don't be playing a bunch of games and im not talking cards or dominoes either...prison systems are the biggest predatory place on earth..

Spent 3 hours a day in the GED class (I had completed 3 semesters of college at the time) helping kids that couldn't read, write, add or subtract. Whenever I got a break from that I would be going through a electronic circuitry book or a electrician wiring book and learned a bit here and there about electricity (always interested me).

Depends whether you're going to county or prison, and how big you are. Me, I'm a little dude about 5'9" 150 lbs, so I just went in with no chip on my shoulder, didn't disrespect anyone, played spades, chess, and taught everyone that was interested how to play advanced Hold 'Em. In no time I literally had the entire dorms looking out for me. In prison it doesn't work like that, so regardless of your size, find someone bigger than you and punch them in the face on day 1 to get your respect up.

Been locked up all throughout my life for armed robberys and one attempt.The attempt was the latest one and I beat it last year.
I got locked up for armed robbery when I was 16,17 and 18.Best advice I can give people is you never know who will end up snitching on you.And get a good lawyer.Never been to a juvenile facility,they sent my ass to CFCF when I was 16.That shit is like a 3rd world country jail.

And that's just my army service time.15 months of that was in Djibouti Africa, 12 months camp phoenix Afghanistan. Never been to jail but army was retarded enough

Got back from nam and was a pissed off trouble makeing asshole.........did 5 years for Manslaughter in Oklahoma......if in prison,not county jail, dont take any shit.......dont matter if you lose....dont back down......dont make eye contact.....out of 5 years I did 2 of it in solitary cause I didnt take shit.......there are differant levels of food chain and I was on top for the killing and being with an 1% outlaw biker club............Make friends but dont be a punk.........you need family in the pen I dont care who you are. I dont want to go back but hell I wont be fucked with either........Now Im just an ASSHOLE.........not mad anymore.......

I lived out in medicine park as a kid and grad Lawton High ....Lawton sucks but medicine park was cool...go out to the secret spots in wildlife refuge and get fucked up.
