Closet Grow Lighting Question

Okay so my closet measures 6 foot long by 2 foot deep by 5 foot tall ( height can be adjusted by simply moving a board that divides the top from the bottom ) Now my question is would 1 400 watt or 1 600 watt HPS light be enough light to flower this area? im going to top my plants and go from their, the area is sorta wide so im concerned with this. Currently im using some CFL's but i keep hearing that i will get better results with a HPS setup.

Thanks

"...6 foot wide just to much for 1 light ?"

I think it is. Dimensions sound good for separating to make a veg/clone/mother side and a flowering area on the other. But it sounds like you plan to use the whole space for flowering. Either way, I think you'll need two lamps to cover that entire 6-ft width.

Just my $0.02.

the problem is that your space is very narrow and long and hoods arent disgned to distribute light in a long rectangular pattern..... So a 400w light is plenty big enough for the width but not the length.. you would need two 400w in a line to cover that space well.....

Im just glad to hear that your going to exhaut out into the attic so many noobs on here just totaly disregard the fact that they need there exhaust to exit someplace else other then there grow room...... good call on your part

Okay so if i do this i will get (2) 400 watt HPS or should i get a smaller wattage?? Also would it make THAT big of a difference VS CFL's i would have at least 20 CFLs at 26 watts a piece putting out 1750 lumens a pop for 35000 total lumens.... would a HPS honeslty get me a bigger yeild over the CFLs, or would they grow faster???

Yes you would diff. see a difference between 400w lights and some CFLS no doubt.......I wouldnt do CFL's personaly but thats just me i want dense big buds......You could get away with some 250w hps lights if you did atleast 3 250w in a line, that would be a 250w light for every two feet length wise....

What if i was to get 1 of these deals and box the room off to 5x2 so its shortened and use a few cfls for side lighting. This is a pretty neat looking self contained unit... What do you think

It looks ok i guess its one of those with the ballast in the hood then?? I just dont like that its a non air cooled hood really.......going to be hard to keep your closet temps down unless the ambient temps are cold right now where you live. also that hood looks like it will cover the width just fine but i dont think its going to cover the length though i guess thats where your cfl's for side lighting would come in....
