its not a felony to destroy money

It is illegal to destroy or deface US Currency. Google it, or visit Bankrate.com for more info. I believe Congress had to act because of the penney. It takes more cost to press than the penney is worth for face value. If melted, the penney as scrap copper becomes worth something like 1.7 cents. You could almost double your money by melting down US Pennies. I may be wrong on the reasoning, but I did Google the law and it is indeed illegal.

Wanna stop being a hater? I figured there were people who were genuinely curious about this, and I could answer their questions on it. I believe that knowledge is always a good thing, whether it's applied or not. If you don't want to learn about this, don't flame me for helping other people. And no, hypothetical situations are NOT illegal. Thank God I live in a country where suspicion alone doesn't constitute a crime.

You can hypothetically discuss this all you want to, but you'll want to take it elsewhere. The discussion of breaking the law is not permitted in the forums. I'm glad you find printing money to be a hobby that you enjoy. Discussing methods to print currency, deface currency, or pass counterfeit currency is just a step from conspiracy to commit a felony.

Believe what you want, but the best way to spot fake currency is to have a deep understanding of it and how it's made. There are ever so slight indicators that you wouldn't think to look for unless you knew the process. Knowledge isn't illegal, my friend. Well, you know those pens that people use to detect counterfeits? Counterfeit bills can just be sprayed with hairspray to pass that test. However, the hairspray really can't go over the ENTIRE bill. I'd recommend making marks on the backside, near the corners.

Another good way is the "smear" technique. Just keep a napkin on hand. Rub the bill pretty hard on the napkin. You might see some ink rub off and onto the napkin, but this doesn't verify it'[s authenticity. Check the bill itself. If the ink smeared on the bill AT ALL, it's a fake. Real US dollars are made with ink that will never smear onto the bill.

Another trick that most people don't know about is using a blacklight. There is a security strip embedded in all bills largerthan a $2 bill, that shows in a different color under a blacklight. $5 bill glows blue; the $10 bill glows orange, the $20 bill glows green, the $50 bill glows yellow, and the $100 bill glows red.

The last resort is to simply feel the front of the bill, especially where the portrait is. You'll notice slight ridges on a real bill, but the cannot be duped on fake bills.

It is NOT Illegal to Deface, destroy or mutilate Federal reserve notes. Its only illegal to do that if the intent is to defraud another and gain benefit from it. You claim that its not wrong because gov. prints money. but what about the people that you scam? they cant turn right around and spend that money they have to eat there loses, your pretty much stealing there money. Also my mom was fooled with 2 20 dollar bills that were printed on 5 dollar bills, she knew it but the bitches ran away.
