Not bad man I guy told me when I bought the blackstar that he thought I would be very suprised by the performance of it we will see but by the looks of other grows with it it seems it will be suprising....

shows what you know about lighting tech do some research before spouting out info that is completely false

I would pick CFLS over LEDs anyday and i would pick hps/mh over anything
HPS is a thing of the past and so is standard MH for HID growing if your going HID take a look at plasma/induction fixtures with external ballasts or take a look at CMH nothing compares to those for HID growing anymore. HPS is a WASTE OF TIME MONEY AND POWER. My 240w led that happens to be a blackstar is growing 30 plants on a 2x3 table better than ANY 400w hps i have ever owned. I would say with blackstar the 300w led is equiv to a 600hps and the 240w led is equiv to a 500w HPS.

The ONLY thing to consider with blackstar is their extreme spectrums. Extreme red for flower or extreme white blue for veg. They dont have one in the middle but that is part of the reason their lights perform so well. What i would do is keep your CFL for veg and switch to LED for flower OR supplement a few 6500k spectrum CFLs if your using the flowering blackstar for veg as well. That way you dont accidently have flowering induced early by the massive red spectrum. If your only veg for a month thats no big deal but 3 months veg is too long for a flowring blackstar panel alone it would need some supplemental lighting from 6500k spectrum of something.

A guy named hudson is doing some interesting experiments involving comparing an hps combined wth a panel and a mh combined with a panel. He claims that with the MH you get WAY more UV (the main reason he is using it besides the real main reason which is he needs the added heat its too cold.) and that increases trich production and the massive reds in the blackstar produces dense as hell nugs. Some interesting stuff. I see HPS and MH being phased out slowly as LED tech gets better and induction tech gets better. Prices have come WAAAAAAY down on LED's at least if your buying blackstar which is the ONLY company with a cheap LED worth going with the expensive companys have good products but they are way overpriced for the performance which only equals or BARELY exceeds my blackstar and so minimally that it would be pointless to spend the extra 500 bucks they want.

Good LED lights can certainly grow more and higher quality marijuana watt for watt than a MH for veg and HPS for flowering. The only problem is they are expensive, to equal the growing power of a 400w MH/HPS you would end up spending between $500 and $1,000 for a good LED light. But the biggest plus is they don't waste 80% of their watts producing heat!

CFL's for sure. LED's don't do the job in my opinion. CFL's are cheap and produce enough lumens to properly veg your plants.

LED's do a pretty darn good job veggin I got about 10 plants under a LED right now and they are growing nice and bushy thick stalks and thats with a flowering LED. Check out the thread on indoor growing called led users unite there are some results that will prove you flat out wrong! They are definitely viable and powerfull!

wrong about expense you can get a GOOD light for 250 bucks that is better than a 400w hps i know because i own one of each and my led kicks my hps's ass

I've read a bunch of LED journals and I don't believe you can buy an LED that grows better than a 400w HID for less than $500 or $600 not less than 300! Which companies light do you believe to be that good? The only way that would make sense was if they were charging 250 for a light and misleading about the wattage (by not telling you how many watts the unit runs on instead of "oh 100 3w LEDs = a 300w LED! (when its really more like 175w).
