What do you do when you need to fix your house?

Hey guys,
So this is a bitch and moan kind of thread but sorry i just need to vent a bit.
Today is my first day off in a while... and i have these papers in the university that i need to finish up until the end of this week. So I gladly stayed up during the night and finished up most of the work. Went to sleep at 8:00AM. 10:00AM my gf wakes me up in a hurry - ALL THE FLOOR IN MY APPARTMENT IS INCH DEEP IN WATER. Now there was no rain, no leak, hell i even unclogged the goddam drain not a week ago. So obviouly we pick up mopps and start to clean up, and there is just no apparent reason for this goddamn water to be there. All that was missing was the girl from the ring to just come and kill me with discomfort (my theroy is that's the way she kills, she makes you so uncomfortable you die). Now, i want someone to come and fix it, a proffesional because im out of my wits - BUT I HAVE A FUCKING CLOSET FILLED WITH MJ FLOWERING.
What do you guys do when your house just plain hates you in the face, and you got skunky goodness you know any person coming into that area will find out about? :wall::wall::wall::wall::wall:

Water damage sucks!!! Same thing happened to me before, turned out it was a small hole in the bottom of the hot water heater that had rusted through.

If you live in an apartment, chances are management will want EVERYTHING out of the apartment so that they can replace or attempt to dry the carpet. You might want to relocate your plants asap just to be on the safe side.

Damn....that sucks....but be glad it happened on your day off!....

!: Locate the source of thed leak. With an inch in your apartment, it's gonna be ice make supply line, hot water heater, etc.....it's gonna be an obvious something.....in an apartment , it could be NEXT DOOR too.....your plants need to be moved from eyes that inevitably gonna be seeking.......

Yes, and if you live upstairs you might be flooding someones apartment below and not even know it. Bad situation all around. Good luck with it.

This happened to me too!!! But OP do some sleuth work first, is the water hot or cold? Have you turned off the main? Look for ripples that may tell you the direction of flow.

oh sorry bro. Yeah i agree with that. I have friends that need to get a plumber to fix a clog in their sink lol. Cant imagine paying a guys tons of money just to unscrew the filter.

Since my Hubby always insist he can fix it, I just let him go at it. If he makes it worse, there's alway a buddy of his or an Uncle of mine to call.

That's good. Hopefully no repercussions......keep your fingers crossed.

Not to be a dick at all.....but that is the #1 reason I would never grow in an apartment.
