Molasses

I am at about the end of flowering, and want to see more shine. I am not satisfied with the trichome development, and want to use molasses. I bought some in the store. Then I thought maybe I need a certain kind. I bought Brer Rabbit Full Flavor molasses. I hope this kind is ok? I also wanted to know a dose that is appropriate. I have read 1-2 tbsp per gallon, and wanted to hear what ppl on here use.

im lookin into that too for my flowering, i dont know alot bout it, but i think your supposed to get unsulfered blackstrap molasses, and the 1-2 tbsp should be fine. Yours willl work though but your supposed to get blackstrap because the sugar amount im pretty sure

Yeah I looked it up some and seems like black strap is 3rd generation molasses and has way more nutrients in it. I smelled the molasses and to me it stinks...lol.

I use Brer Rabbit but I don't recall it saying "full flavor" it's blackstrap and actually have been using it all the way through veg and flower 1 tbsp in veg 2 in flower . I do this for different reasons also though . It's also a natural cal/mag source , I use RO water and use it to supplement cal/mag .It does feed the microbial life in the soil in organics which they in turn make nutrient uptake availible at broader PH levels as they break down compounds into more readily available sources for your roots .

Is it unsulfured? That is what u need. 2 tbl spoons per gallon should be fine. Don't over do it. It can kill plants if you do.

I am at two weeks flowering going on the third and see little to no signs of sex will mollasses speed up the flowering i have been using m.g. Bloom booster since i started 12/12 ??

If you're disappointed in your resin content, molasses will do nothing to improve it. Look into better genetics or learn to be a better grower. Good luck!

Well said ! It doesnt help that directly at all . It's high in Calcium and Magnesium .

And this is just normal molasses that you find at the store? I was going through the cabinets earlier today and have some unsulphered molasses that I used to cook something with about 6 months ago. I wouldn't use it to cook again, but if it helps to add some cal / mag to my RO water, then it seems like something that I should start doing every other watering or every third. About how often do you generally use it?

Molasses doesn't have a substantial amount of anything in it to really make a difference. If you saw a bottle of fertilizer with the values below on the back, I'd hope that you'd put it back and look for something more useful.

Plants have a limited ability to pull up sugars from the soil. Simple sugars might be the only sugars they can pull up but keep in mind that plants already make their own sugars so adding more to the soil is usually to feed the micros. If you put too much carbohydrate into the soil, you will stimulate bacteria and fungal growth so much that the soil becomes anaerobic. This is because many bacteria and all fungi require oxygen. Too much soil microbial respiration and the soil oxygen levels are too low for the roots, which is not good for the plant.

i dont put sugar in my rez. plants make there own sugars like homebrew said. if u put sugar in your rez you're probably going to make a mess. i do spray with thrivealive and sometimes i put sugardaddy in with it. some ppl like to use sugar in hydro, but when i tried adding sugardaddy to my rez, it only seems to make things worse and require a rez change sooner than later

I had a foam issue too.

I just used a tsp of regular molassas that you would eat and stirred it into the water...
