Weird question about seeds....

Hi!
Here's my situation.
I ordered seeds from BC Seed King...they got the payment and the seeds are on there way to the east coast.
One thing I did not take into account....It's winter here!...and a cold one at that!!
So here is my question; Will the seeds be alright even if they spend more then 12 hours below freezing?...between the time the mailman puts them into his bag, then into my mailbox until i get back from work?
Or should I just take a week of work and stand by the mailbox?

freezing could kill them, no ifs ands or buts, all depends how high the internal humidity is and the outside temperature.
Is a weeks work worth only the price of a pack of seeds ?

I would think a jiffy envelope with bubble wrap would be decent insulation for the seeds.

A buddy of mine just made me think....
He said something like "If every seeds would freeze and die in winter we wouldnt be here today...."
And isnt cannabis one of the tougher plants?
Posotive thinking...i know...but I dont want to admit I might loose my babies... :(

dude cold temps wont do shit to a seed. As you said the seeds have to survive every winter in the natural cycle of reproduction. twenty bucks says i can take my bag of seeds, lock the bag airtight, leave it in a pile of snow for a day, a week, a month, take them back in and they will have the same germ rate.

In my younger days I used to keep my seeds in the freezer, never had a problem. Don't worry. I have also had seeds delivered to me in my mailbox when it was -30 C, sitting in the mailbox for 12 hours before I got them, and again no problems.

as long as the seeds are dry, which they should be for storing and shipping, the freeze wont harm them. if you are storing them for a long period of time they should be kept in a sealed container in the freezer. let them come to room temp before you germinate them.

i have ordered seeds in the dead of winter, in upstate NY
they were in an unheated mail box for days(and it was cold, january cold), i'm still using and sprouting these seeds 2 years later
so for me, wasn't a problem

2nd BINGO!! I store my seeds, including my organic vegetable seeds in a freezer for long term storage. If they were mature and properly dried, as stated freezing won't hurt them. In fact, some plants e.g. bulb type flowers, won't grow until they are exposed to a cold/freezing period. That is why some flowers need to be planted in the fall so they can have a winter period and will come alive in the spring. Planting those type in the spring usually will rot them or they won't come up until the next spring.
