Bush's last ever "state of the union address"

i posted a really long response earlier, but for some reason it never showed up.:x

Heres the summarized version.

I hate Bush just as much as the next guy/girl. I can't wait for him to finally get out of office. I think he is an idiot. But the one good thing that I do have to say about The LAST State of the Union address that Bush gave is that he realizes he's leaving office soon. His approval ratings are at record lows. The economy is suffering and he knows it. No president wants to leave office with low approval ratings.

Lately I've noticed that Bush has been trying his damndest to get his ratings back up.

As most of you probably know Bush proposed new tax reductions. Many are saying that these tax reductions are 'too little, too late.' But I say that it's something. These tax reductions are aimed at middle class families instead of the wealthy. Every little bit helps. I really feel like these tax reductions could be a sturdy platform for the future of middle-class families.

Also Bush recently vetoed SCHIP expansion for the second time. Congress' idea of expanding SCHIP (State Children's Health Insurance Program) is to raise cigarette taxes to help with funding. Bush continues to veto this bill. I don't know how many of you smoke tobacco, but I sure do and I can't afford higher taxes on cigarettes!

Smoking taxes hit hardest on lower to middle class families. Because Bush continues to veto this bill those families are given another tax break in a way.

Like I said, I'm not a big Bush fan but he is trying to raise his approval ratings and in some ways, it's working. I have a teensy tiny little bit more respect for him after those two actions.

This is probably one of the best SOUA that he has given.

Oh and what you guys were saying about not being able to take your eyes off of Palosi??? I agree!!! She was so distracting. ugh.:-?

The real distraction was the Devil sitting on his right shoulder. They should tax tobacco out of existence, and that 3 to 12 hundred bucks is a drop in the bucket. He was his typical stupid ass self and tried to use the bully pulpit for his own gains. The leopard did not change his spots. He used the terrorists scare tactics and the stupid WMDs could have been there thing, typical scare tactics and trying to justify the Iraq war. He is a lame duck and the worst president ever, period.

That "speech" was the most lame bunch of lies ever. He mentioned a few issues like education and reducing petro consumption without saying that he has done Absolutely Zero about these vital issues. Not much talk about OBL or those nasty anthrax attacks. Plenty of talk about keeping the gravy train going to the top 1/2% richest people. America is beyond shock. They are starting to wake up now, realizing that many will not have a place to live pretty soon. That $600 stimulus will be just enough to keep the crash from happening until 2 weeks after he quits....or not.

funny how the dems got u fooled into thinking the reps are only cutting taxes for the richest 1/2%

The process is sick. Both parties are corrupt. McCain is the Bob Dole of his time. Romney is in big trouble at this time. If McCain wins the Republican nomination, he's unelectable. That leaves either the old socialist war horse Hillary, or an unproven, less than one term senator as our next president. There will be no "change," only the expansion of the welfare state, increasing taxes, increasing debt and the further sale of America to foreign interests.

LOL.
Trust me, I hate Bush just as much as the next guy [or girl]
I think he is a complete ignorant turd.

But the SOUA last night was his attempt to get his approval ratings up before he leaves office. Obviously the tax breaks were a bit 'too little too late' for our struggling economy.. but these tax cuts are actually designed for lower income families instead of the wealthy. This is one of the things that I praise Bush for.
I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one ... the poorest of the poor won't see a dime ... and in order to get the lowest amount ... $300 you have to have had to pay so much in taxes before you are eligible ... so the people that really need help won't get it ... and the $300 to $1500 ... won't last but a hot minute ... then what?

Also Bush recently vetoed SCHIP expansion.
If you don't know what this means and you smoke cigarettes, than you need to really need to get with it. Since bush vetoed SCHIP expansion smokers DID NOT see a tax increase! Congress has been trying to override this veto, but so far they have failed.
Doesn't this have to do with health care for children? You think the illegitimate bush did this to help his "friends" the smokers? Do you really believe that?

This is just one more reason that I like the fact that Bush is attempting to get his approval ratings up with the lower to middle class citizens.
Sorry ... but the illegitimate bush doesn't give a damn about the middle class ... or the poor ...

There's another poll out there that shows something like 8% would not vote for a woman candidate, 9% wouldn't vote for a black person ... and 15% wouldn't vote for a person 73 years old.

Even if McCain is elected, he still leans to the left socially, so he may lead us into serfdom more slowly than Hillary or Obama ... but serfdom it surely will be regardless.

And your "types" are what, Med? Your's are the "types" that envy anyone who has "more" than you do. Your's are the "types" who are insanely jealous of the achievements of others. Yours are the "types" who have been brainwashed into believing that wealth is static. Your's are the "types" who would kill the Golden Goose of capitalism and in the process drive us back into the Dark Ages. Your "types" are the ones calling for "compassion" using the force of the federal government and refuse to call what they espouse by its proper name ... slavery. :blsmoke:

.More mindless drivel from our resident wannabee oligarch. I'll not defend my position to you. You have no Idea of what or how I feel, especially since you detest emotion, the basis of reasoning. Since you have no functional reasoning, I guess this is just trash talk.

That's right, Med ... you won't defend your illogical positions because you CAN'T. The simple fact is, your positions are indefensible. :blsmoke:

Nice. I wish I could, as well. This was the first election I could. But, for some reason, felons can't vote:cry:
Usually, or in many states, just incarcerated felons. Check out your state law. You might be pleasantly surprised, son.

Yep, in CA this is the case. You think you would have done a little research before bowing out??? It took all of a minute.

Wow, FL too! Sad.

Already did you joker, NV. was one of the first. You've got no say in the political forum if you don't at least vote. I'm hoping McCain is the repuke candidate as he is un-winnable, and either Obama or Hillary will kick his ass in the general, Any takers?
