What is a Perfect Temp. Range and Humidity Level for My Plants?

I have a great question: I'm noticing, slight burn tips on my Plant and she is still so young, Only 7 days into veg.. What is the perfect temp and humidity level for my plant?
I thought she was going threw nutrient burn but its this light I have on her!
Light is: 1- 100watt 1400 lumen output 5500k CFL Bulb. I had this bulb 3-4 inches away from plant but its destroying it. I went out and bought a thermometer and humidity checker and when I put it to check, that crap jump over 110 degrees,WOW that just has to be bad!
I was reading it should be about 80 degrees and no more!
I need help with this before she ends up dying due to heat stress! Please someone help. Best answer will get +REP for the Help!

Room temp. Your plants like the same temps you do. As for humidity, the plants want a middle-of the-road value. High humidity can start to drown, steam and/or suffocate the plants. Low humidity dries them out. Anywhere close to 50% will be great. Plants can show healthy growth in both low and high humidity, though, through the right growing techniques. While 50% is close to ideal, excellent plants can be grown in any humidity with enough extra care.

Hi there, I am newbie grower and had this happen to mee see pic.

I was worried when i first saw this. I was advised on RIU that it was nothing to worry about, just a little nutrient burn that is quite common for seedlings. Mine are a week old now and that little brown tip is still there, but gets smaller and smaller as the leaves get bigger. New growth shows no signs of these burn so as far as im concerned all good. I wouldn't worry about it.

Here is a pic 3 days after the one above, you'll note the first leaves still have the brown tips but the new ones are fine.


As for ideal conditions, im no pro but from what i have read best temperature is around 80oF or 26oC. PH is best around 6.5. And average humidity. Good luck.

Well how can there be nutrient burn on my plant If i am not using any nutrients? I'm using straight water!

How can I lower my light back down too 3-4 inches and still keep a temp level of 80 on my thermometer? Any ideas?

Gotta get a fan going in there- 4" kinda close for seedlings too- they are sensitive until the sugar leaves start getting big
Watch adding nutes too- go slow. If you are getting nute burn now, us Phed water only for a while

Im not using nutrients either, my soil mix is Castings/PottingMix/Perlite 30/40/30. So i guess its the nutrients already in the soil that does it.

I have a 600w HPS about 16 inches from my plants, i didnt get any burn from the lights. The brown tips where there from when they were under cfl bulbs, no closer than 6 inches. It wasn't the heat from lights that gave you those brown tips its the nutrients in the soil mix. But dont worry about it, it just seems daunting now becasue the leaves are so small. My seedlings are healthy as now and i didn't change anything.

FYI: For the first couple of days (before i got ph tester and thermometer) my temp in my grow cabinet was around 100-110oF (waaaay too high). I knew it was a bit hot so i put some things over them see pic. This was an effort to diffuse the intense light, trap in humidity. See pic.



Later i cut small holes in the plastic caps to allow fan air to knock em around to strengthen the stems. I dont know if it helped but they survived the first week in that oven and seem to be handling it well. I am working on a venting solution at the moment to combat this problem. But my point is - they call it weed for a reason - it is a weed. So it will take some abuse and still survive.

PS: I also had a fan going on them while lights were on, this is a must i think. Airflow = Lower temps.

I have had a fan on it all day, but I just put the FAN on high it seems to be keeping the temp around 80 closer too 90 though!

So when did you take those things off off the plants? At what stage? This is my first grow s you know how it goes, nervous every day, LOL

Her is my update: I have lowered the Light too 8 inches from the plant, I have a better light reading on my meter=1000 light output which is good on this scale, i have put my fan on high and the temp is at a steady 85 degrees! I guess time will tell!
The reason I'm bothered is because i see the next set of leaves starting too come out the center of my plant and the tips of those look brownish too.
It may be the soil "Fox Farm soil has great nutrients and they may be causing this also.

I stopped using the covers as soon as the second set of leaves settled. Once again, i dont know if the covers helped, but i think they did. And yeah dude i know exactly what you mean about nerve's.

FYI: If you are only using CFL bulbs you shouldn't have to use the covers, but they might help to trap humidity which helps against heat stress i think, from what im told cfl bulbs dont put out any where near as much heat as my hps does. I only used them because the light was SO intense. Even though my hand wasnt burning when i put it under the lights at plant height, the light was so intense that if i spent a minute looking at the plants and then went to the kitchen... EVERYTHING SEEMED DARK AND BLUE, my HPS fucks with my eyes coz its so frickin bright. I thought "i wouldn't like to be stuck under this microwave all day, so why would my plants... if i wouldnt like it neither would they.... hence the covers"

Well now my humidity level dropped too 40 which=DRY. I think this is still in good range, what do you think! The fan dropped the humidity level down.

I dont know much about controlling humidity as i dont have to where i am. Sorry. But i think you are ok.

the fan is gonna drop the humidity if i were you id lower the fan speed and keep a bunch of frozen water bottles in ur freezer and put a couple of them in the box that should drrop it a few more then when they are thawed put em back in the freezer also handy for the zombie apocalypse lol but that should help and might bring the humidity up a couple to.. hope that helps

I just seen something brilliant... put damp towels in there. The heat from the bulb will dry out the towels and you dont have to use the dryer. Plus when you get out of shower and dry of you an smell the grow in your towel mmmmmmm. And then when you finished with towel you have a reason to go and look at ur grow coz you gotta go put the towel back....

good luck getting girls after that temp and if you had low humidity also is bad. you need 70 to 80. no more no less and 60% t0 65% humidity untill the second set of leaves come out, then reduce humidity to 50% and keep it their and ur chances of girls are increased considerably. good luck. just my 2 cnts worth. been growing 7 yrs

thats a horrable idea the things that you whipe off ur body go one the towel then they go onto ur plants cause u put ur towel in there ur space should be pretty close in not compleatly steril other wise ull get virus's, mold, and other bactera that is no good for ur plant not to mention ur crabs will eat the plant hahaha
