if gays should not be allowed to marry because they can't procreate "naturally", as you say, then the same should go for infertile couples, old couples, and the like.

that all depends on when you think marriage was "invented". the concept we have of marriage today is nothing like the concept of marriage across time and cultures.when marriage was "invented", it was invented with the intent of where it stands today. why are gays so insistent on changing that? i strongly believe they NEED the word "marriage" to feel equally accepted. it comes across to me as nothing but whiny.
and how would gays "change" marriage? if we allow gays to get married, does anything about your marriage "change"?
i can only speak for myself and say that not a damn thing about my marriage would "change" if gays were allowed to marry.
now to turn things around on you...i strongly believe that some people NEED to deny another group of people the word "marriage" to feel superior to them. it comes across to me as nothing but whiny.

You are off.... it is a question of equality. Having the same rights as another individual. The only thing that needs to be changed is to end the discrimination against homosexuals and allow them to have the same rights as a married couple. The people that keep citing that they are 'defending' marriage should look for other ways to defend it, as your 50% divorce rate in America is truly a sad state of straight affairs...
