T0rn didn't you get a micro nutrient..oregonism XL if I remember right..was thinking of picking some up for my next transplant...I used just plain cocoa fiber buckets with roots organics soil. I figure they'll need a transplant in about a month or so...if they all live that long..I'm quite pissed that one of the clones I got from my breeder looks honestly like shit..it looks droopy but the kid said he just watered on the 05..I gave her some today but it's up in the air..luckily this is just the super skunk one and not my purple wreck.

For biologicals I amended my coco with Humboldt nutrient Myco Maximum. I also use Humboldt Nutrients Mayan Microzym, Honey ES, and Canna Rhizotonic for the nutrition. I also have some Humboldt Nutrients Deuce-Deuce 0-0-22 which is pretty loaded with biologicals. AN Nirvana is also basically just an organic tea concentrate, so that will help feed the system.

I was looking at the Age Old Organics at the store today and the nutrient levels on that stuff seem pretty good, easy to use, and low enough potassium levels. That might be a good fit for you when it comes to giving something for them to break down.

Today I wound up trading in the Grow and Bloom and Sweet Citrus for a bottle of Hydroplex and a bag of Roots Organic Coco mix. I paid $18 for the 1.5 cuft bag... which is totally outrageous... but I'm going to give it a shot for the sake of trying it out. Never going back to that hydro store again. Gave them a bad review online too.

Quick one for you Snow and I know this might be a hard one to describe. I'm trying to figure out when I should start jarring these nugs up. The outside of the nugs are starting to get a dryer feel to them, it's not so wet anymore. It's by no means dry or crispy but the outsides are starting to feel dryer then they were and somewhat sticky. How long am I looking at? Today's the 4th day and the large stems are still moist.

Give then a lil more time if your stems are still that moist to bending, it takes a good dry run to get to where you want thats why i clip all my buds down i dont leave a lot of stem to dryout..take a medium bud and break it open try to tear the inside apart if it begins to stick together and not break off,let it go another day or two, my outside be crispy but once you cure it the moister is redistributed throughout...

I agree. Error on the side of caution. You jar them too early and that will increase the chance of mold issues. You're probably close, within 36 hours of jarring I would guess. Keep an eye on them. Wait for the butt of the stems to lose the soft moistness and then jar them. They will rehydrate more than you'd think the first time. It really is like drying something over the course of two weeks. There needs to be just the right amount of moisture. There's still enough in there even when they feel quite dry.

Wait until at least 6 days of drying. That'd play it safe enough on a quicker dry. If you leave a few nugs out they will continue to dry and will be ready for smoking a bit sooner.

Another idea is to constantly check the smaller nugs that will dry quicker. When the smallish sized buds have stems that snap then that would mean the larger buds are probably dry enough to jar. Time it right and you'll only have a few small nuggets that got just a little bit too dry.

Then you can use this as a reference for future harvests.

Thank's SC, i know a lot of people like to have those huge buds but to me it is harder to judge the dryness, i use a screen to dry and after trim and three days hang drying i chop the bud's down to maybe half dollor size for the final screen dry for two days and then to the jars it go seems to work out good for me...Peace

You guys are always a great help, thanks again! Seems like curing correctly is the thing least talked about on this site and there are soo many ways to skin a cat. Once I get a decent hygrometer I'll be able to know exactly what's going on. Here's a good jar humidity curing thread:

On a side note I got some white paint to spruce up the walls in the grow room. The 1940s white wash in there is a little dingy for good reflection, yay!

New calculator I put together. I've worked out the "zero ml" of nutrients issue so you don't have to use 0.0001 anymore.
I also have a much more accurate representation of the final uS/cm for you to use. I have it set up for Canna right now. You'll need to update the values from your own labels.

Don't input in the phosphorus or the potassium lines as these are calculations done from the P2O5 line and K2O line.

I'm really starting to have a change of heart about the way I'm feeding. I can't believe I didn't murder my plants at the 3.2 EC I fed once during flower.. the back of these labels are so fucking misleading. I've found a recipe (thanks to your nifty calc) that takes me from 800 ppm at the beginning of flowering and 1100 ppm at peak flowering and tapering off from there with the base nutes.

Keep an eye on the labeling there.

The most important part is the "Predicted uS/cm" This is a measurement of the electrical conductivity of the media and is about twice the actual ppm level.

With the uS/cm here's what I'm doing:

Seedling appears
Week 0: 200 [Little Liquid Karma and tap water]
Week 1: 900 [5ml Coco A+B, 5ml Cal-Mag+, 5ml Liquid Karma, 1ml Pro-Tekt]
Week 2: 1400 [10ml Coco A+B, 5ml Cal-Mag+, 8ml Liquid Karma, 1ml Pro-Tekt]
Transplanted to 2 gallon planter of coco and roots organic coco mix.

So you can take those uS/cm levels and cut them in half to get my PPM levels. I will stick to about 900ppm to 950ppm for the high part of weeks 4-5 of bloom as I do a pk boost. For the most part though I'll be keeping my ppm's beneath 700. Especially early on as the plants have the Roots Organic to eat.

The diversity of bloom boosters provide elements from a good number of sources. The Canna has a good ratio of low potassium nutrients which makes boosting with the Ripe and Hydroplex such a good combination. The KoolBloom is in use for the overall PK boost with a bit of magnesium to help out.

Hopefully I'll be getting some Bud Candy involved in there at some point.

Honestly, it wasn't that much work.

I have been working with spreadsheets my whole life (father is a CFO and CPA) so tossing together a couple of relational equations has never been an issue. I was fortunately gifted with one of those brains (I scored 97% correct on the ASVAB when joining the USAF around 6 1/2 years ago...) and mathematics/physics has always been a love of mine. I like things like cooking and growing because of the art, and the intangibles, which cannot be explained away with a tight little formula. Nutrients, and the chemistry, lumens and light, those things which are quantifiable are easier for me to understand.

Unfortunately for me the "green thumb" has little to do with spreadsheets and photosynthetic photon flux density charts. t0rn is a fantastic example that it is an innate talent that can no more be learned than it can be forgotten which is what separates those who can do by those who teach in this game.

I do know my stuff, few years of experience, and in one go with a little bag seed t0rn puts all my previous grows to shame. Aside from the spider mites things went exceptionally well in this perpetual 1000w multi-strain and we all need to acknowledge that it wasn't a spreadsheet which made it happen. I've done everything possible wrong. T12 lighting, high temps, daily watering, miracle grow, spider mites, bad lighting schedules, chlorinated water, pH issues, over watering, over feeding, bad germination methods, bud mold, fungus gnats, high humidity, temperature swings, light leaks, etc, etc, etc...

I think my experience is why I do what I do now. This grow shows just what a forum like this can help someone produce.

Mad props to t0rn on this most successful first harvest. I think as a team we'd grow some awesome buds together.

I've always been one to learn from my mistakes, but with the vast amount of growing info on the net (some good, most bad) it was easy enough to learn from other people's mistakes and try not to do them myself. My crop would have turned out much worse, and the learning curve would have taken much longer when it comes to nutes without the spreadsheet you made.

All I need now is some money to do the things I really want to with these plants. I made this grow happen with less than $300, $150 of it borrowed. It's time some of this stuff starts coming down so I can add another flowering room. I've got my eye on a 5x5 and I want to work with a 4x4 flood table with an ebb & gro top-feed system in coco. Have to spend some to make some, but at this point I'm stuck. Frustrating..

We would make a sick team man, lets start a dispensary and grow in-house. Business loans would make for a dream garden..

I've been thinking about it too.

I think the initial investment would need to be about $60,000. Probably need another $40,000 to $90,000 as back up funds to cover "unforseen" costs. Lottery tickets, here I come!

Figure one of those empty business fronts found anywhere across most cities on the west coast. Run a legitimate co-op in the front of the building, build a veg and flower space in back. Figure we'd need a good deal of electricity, probably up to 30,000 watts, so there are upgrades that need to be made, probably to the HVAC system as well. Legal fees and equipment, source some more genetics... It is completely possible if we had someone who would invest in us, in an endeavor like this.

Maybe if it was a legitimate business I could get my Dad and some Fraternity Alumni (I'm a DU, Michael Eisner and Barry Swenson are among alum I know personally). I know plenty of millionaires... but convincing them to put into something like this would be damn near impossible. Probably need to do it myself... And at the moment... I'd rather buy a larger house with money like that.

But yeah, if things happened to fall in place I could think of no better a life. I have a buddy who lives near Kings Canyon right now, they have a few acres up in the hills, and run a dispensary in the Central Valley. Some day... I still feel like I need to perfect my craft first before going "mainstream" with it and trying to turn a profit.

It is a 5 year plan for me. I figure in 2 years I could have the house and the land. 2 years after that I should have perfected the craft and generated some funds. So by the 5th year I could be in a position to be supporting the medical community, hopefully the climate will change between then and now, perhaps with another legalization push and by electing the right politicians between now and then.

Panchota clones really well too! I can't wait to rename it, Panchota was sort of its female name like Sally or Mary-Jane. The seed was found in some Rootbeer Kush that was at a local dispensary for a little while. It was my friend Panch's favorite smoke while it was there and I'm sure he bought them clean of it lol. We were breaking through a large nug and a seed popped out, dark and viable. I had just started growing so I thought I'd plant it. It's was my buddies fav strain so I let him name the plant.

The Rootbeer Kush smelled nothing like this plant so I'm sure it's a different pheno. The weed the seed was found in really did smell and taste like rootbeer. Panchota smells like pinesol and potpourri, can't wait to tear it down..
