holy shit man you're really desperate for female attention aren't you ? LOL
I was thinking the same thing, more as an "in general" thought on this thread. Not so much toward Medi directly. I give it to her though, this chick knew how to get an answer. lol.

Hey BTW...like the attention everyone LOL. What female doesn't?

I have a basement grow...and it is burrr 10F outside today. The actual grow room is actually located within another room within the basement. In that outside room the temp is about 52-55F because our forced air heating system is down there. So it stays pretty warm during the winter and cool during the summer. I think my biggest problem is ventilation...basically I go down there 3 to 5 times a day and just open the door. Yeah it sucks, but the hubby hasn't had time to actually finish the vent system (more of WHY he hasn't later). Funny how things start as just an experiment with some bag seeds and it turns into something expensive and time consuming LOL...

I should have gotten on here months ago and done a grow journal. At least it may have made some of you pros laugh at how noob I am...and the stupid things that I have done!

For example...3 out of 4 seedlings eaten by my cat....remaining (1) plant under 8 4ft T5s...all turned on...all for bag seed...jeez I got taken for a ride at the grow store because we had the money to spend and my hubby likes to go all out and get the best for me, even though HE DON'T SMOKE...so basically he has the funds and I have the time. He likes to see me happy, guess I do something right LOL.

What we are working with(I will post pics when I can):
Grow room is about 5 x 8 x 78" and entire room has been insulated- with reflective foil insulation. Floor is painted white.
Forced air heat vent cut into room (just in case we needed it...it can be completely opened/closed off if need be)
32 x 32 x 63H grow tent for flowering
8 4ft T5s Hydrofarm (6400k) for veg
600w HPS Hydrofarm (Ok...the HPS is not set up bc we haven't yet put in the ducting fan/exhaust. Grow shop gave us a tent and the openings actually fit a 4" duct, but the 600w HPS uses a 6" duct, so the damn duct doesn't fit through the tent's holes) Now, if the guy at the grow shop had given us a 400w HPS, would that have used a 4" duct? Anyone? Isn't a 600 too big for a 32x32x63 tent?
Have 2 types of soil: FF Happy Frog and Root Organics. What do you guys prefer to use?
FloraNova Nutes: 1 for Veg and 1 for Bloom (1/4 strength)
Seeds started in damp paper towels, then moved to peat disks, then to bio peat pots. After 3-4 weeks I transfer them to 2 gal pots.
Water: from our well
Hanna pH/Temp. How do we store this? We heard you can store it in a KCL sol. Anyone?
3 Fans (1 is 100CFM hardwired)
1 Humidifier (auto)

Important air flow question: As our grow is in a room, within a much larger (1000sqft) much cooler room (52-55 degrees), can we draw air from the outside room into the inner grow room and exhaust it back into the same room? The outside room has 4 windows and cold air seeps in through those windows & outside door. Or, should we have to draw the much colder air from outside instead? Think that our outside air is too cold though. I mean, we can do anything here...my husband is a beast!!! Given the challenge...and the love...lol

Thanking you in advance for all your suggestions and comments...

the guy that thinks he gets good vigour from low humidity...not. vigour is genetics not because of to low of humidity.

you wont be able to cool the 600 with a 4 inch, min nee34ds a 6 inch and is fine in that room if you had the right venting for it. a 600 used right will only give a 4x4 fottprint of light...in a hood
i dont waste money on over priced pre loaded soils. i use pro mix hp. cheep and its good stuff. i get 107 liter for 25 bucks compared to a small bag of FF for close to 20,
to your question on storage of the pen, i tried that for a bit as was told to by the manufacurer but it wouldnt read right when i did. i just keep mine capped. the one i use now stays in the rez all the time and isnt a battery one so lasts forever plugged in.

your fine to draw in the colder air as long as it keeps the right temps within the grow room.

what is a bag of Co2, never heard of a bag of gas

Hey Medi 1...thought my thread died or sumthin. I can't PM anyone, since I am such a noob. BTW thanks for the info and for responding.

We knew that the 600HPS needed the 6" ducting, just wasn't sure about the tent being ok with that, since the problem is really with the tent's small holes for the intake and exhaust. It seems like the tent is better set up for a 4" duct...as it is a bitch to try to stick our 6" venting through that 4" hole. Would a 400HPS need 4" venting/4" inline booster fan?

The CO2 bag is made by a company named ExHale in Missoula, Montana. Here is the link: WWW.co2cultivator.com It is supposed to last 6 months and is designed for small/med grow rooms. Each bag provides CO2 for up to 6 plants. It is pretty cool.

Hahahaha. I thought it was funny when she said. HEY, I am female. so give me help ROFLMAO..

So should we help you because you are telling us females are stupid, or that if we help you, you will put out?

It is called reverse psychology...just communicating the fact that I am female, hoping to get some attention on here...it actually worked, right?...I mean this site is full of sausages... Isn't it nice to see a girl growing? I guess I did say before how any "suggestions and comments" would be appreciated...LOL

hope ya didnt waste much on them co2. we had a similar product at our shop and they dont cut it. barley hits 700 ppm and isnt near enough,. notice the link has no info on the ppm it will; maintain for that time fr5ame..and if its tossing out co2 24/7 then its being sucked out the venting and is doing nothing. need a proper room set up to use co2 the right way. the room needs 1500 ppm.

you could run a 4 inch off the output end of the fan, but those duct boosters wont be enough to run the room...efficiently anyways. they are meant for helping other fans or in a long line to move the air better. once there is a bit of draw or pressure on them they die out real fast. like a filter will slow it down alot.

i alsao owuld suggest using the outer room being bigger for the flowering and the tent to veg in. a 5 foot tall tent isnt much hight for lighting and all the needed stuff and the hight of the plant. you will be always battling heat and room conditons...and that is # 1 to a good grow is the room conditions

MTGirl, I was only joking. Glad to see you on board.

As for people saying that Weed needs to have a set humidity, I put this right up there with when someone tells someone to get there PPM at 1,200 with out even knowing what strain they have, let alone what Nuts they are useing. Different strains have different likes and dislikes. Some strains came from high dry altitudes, while others came from hot and humid rain forest. This is why I always find it very useful to keep a good journal each time i try a new strain. I have two different strains going right now that I have to mix two totally different Nut Soups for, because one likes to chug down heavy amounts of Nuts, while the other strain will burn if I just show it the bottles of nuts to long. Weed comes from all around the world, and has adapted to the enviroments it is from over the centuries. But there is a general guide line to follow which is true most of the time. I do like that chart that was given early in this thread.

I've learned a few interesting things regarding humidity that I had never paid attention to thanks to this thread. More importantly, I realized I would get a lot more input and advice with a different avatar and a female name :) Just teasing, welcome aboard MTGirl, MT short for mountain by chance, like Garth's girlfriend in the Ladykillers? :)

Hmmmmm.....good info about the CO2 bag. Hubby is a scientist, he knows more about ppm levels than me. Don't have a meter to determine what the ppm of CO2 is in the room. So far my leaves on the seedlings look good...

What a great idea about using the main grow room to flower instead of the tent. My hubby actually agrees that is better...only thing is our T5 is too big for our grow tent. Our T5 veg lights are 4ft with 8 tubes. Grow tent is only 32 x 32.

If my (1) loner plant turns out to be a male, we just may scrap the tent idea altogether and when it comes time to flower just hang up the 600wHPS in the main grow room on top of the 7 seedlings (now ~2 wks old), which are currently under the T5's and just use the T5's as additional side lighting. It is just easier to deal with one room instead of a tent within that room. Just curious, have you ever used a T5 to veg?

Sorry it took awhile to respond, I have been down looking (staring actually) at my (1) plant that is 6 days into 12/12. I am thinking it is actually a female. It has 1 white hair that looks alot like this pic (below) that I jacked from another thread. Again, the below pic is not a pic of my plant...but my plant has this kind of hair sticking out of it towards the top. I am literally freaking out. If she is a girl, she has been through a whole heck of alot... I initially sprouted 4 seeds and 3 were eaten by my cat...so the odds of this 1 plant actually being female wasn't too good LOL. She was born around Nov 30, so she has been in veg for like 2 months. Damn, I hate to say it, but it would have made things a lil easier with the 7 seedlings, if she was a male LOL.

I know u were kiddin...like ppl with a sense of humor. Figure, I already laugh at myself, who cares who also laughs at me! Yeah, I agree that chart was pretty cool! I need to read up and thank him for it. I tried to PM him, but I am too noob and I need more posts on my belt to be able to do that. Sounds like you are busy with what your doing...may be someday I will get there... all I got now is 1 strain b/c all the seeds that I started came from the same bag....think it may be indica. I need to get some pics up soon...

Myself, I think it is important for a new grower to only start with one strain. Not all strains need the same amount of nutrients and such as I have said before. If you get two different strains that need two totally different amounts of nutrients and such, you could get into trouble and kill one of them off or both. This is just my opinion on this though.
