I grow several of there strains they are very strong however they lie about finishing times. but they are all still faster than most!
I just heard about Stoney Girl Gardens tonight while browsing through seed reviews on a whim. I came across a review for their pitbull strain and read it based purely on the fact that I love my pitbulls. I read up a bit more on this strain and I agree that their claims sound a bit ridiculous. I have been growing and breeding cannabis for over ten years and the thc levels and finishing times that they claim are pretty extreme but when you actually think about it, it does make sense. I looked up their website and read all about their strains and growing methods and they seem sound. Personally, I think that they just like to harvest their plants a bit early. On their own website they say that they harvest their plants when only 40% of the pistils have changed color and when the thrichomes have just started to turn milky but none are amber. This leads me to believe that they harvest during peak THC production but before the full cannabanoid profile is realized. This will also lead to higher THC levels in lab tests as these tests are based on a ratio of THC/sample weight so harvesting a nugget when it is getting super frosty but before it is putting on weight will lead to a higher ratio of THC to sample weight. I just saw an dispensary advertisement in a Westword or Boulder Weekly a week ago that boasted "Sour Diesel - 34.6% THC" and had the Full Spectrum Labrotories label next to it and the first thing I thought was "they must have harvested it 2-3 weeks early". Most of the descriptions of their strains on the website say that the effects are "happy, energetic, speedy, and anxiety causing", not "couch-lock, stoney, pain-relieving" which is due to harvesting at different times. As most medical users are realizing these days, THC is not he end-all be-all ingredient in cannabis. The longer you wait to harvest, the more THC is converted into CBD and CBN and it will have a different effect. So on that note I don't believe that they are out and out lying about their strains and over hyping them just to make money (although $20/seed does seem a bit pricey), it may be just a matter of preference about when to harvest. Genetics makes all the difference. I have a proprietary strain that I bred myself using genetics obtained from friends in Mendocino who have been growing and breeding for over 30 years that is some of the dankest dank that me, you or anyone has ever smoked and it finishes in 50 days in soil and 45 in hydro. If you let it go 60+ days it is practically rotting on the vine. The genetics read like an algebra equation but are... {Woody Kush x [(OG Kush x Great White Shark) x Mendo Purps(Maui x Dog x Super Silver Haze)]} for anyone that cares. I was just looking at some tonight that is only 30 days in and it is dripping with resin and I'm sure that if I chopped it down right now and dried and smoked it I would be "high as fuck"... (to use the parlance of our times) and if i sent in a sample to Full Spectrum it would probably register around 30+% THC because it hasn't quite filled out weightwise yet. And it would probably register a much lower CBD and CBN ratio than if I let it go to 50 days as I plan to do. So I am convinced that selective breeding can do some amazing things but I am not about to just believe anything a seed company tells me. I am interested in trying out their pitbull to see if it is as fast, strong and sweet as my two pooches are so if anyone knows of a dispensary that is an authorized retailer here in Colorado that sells seeds or herb or has any real experience and information on this strain that is not just heresay or obnoxious shit talking/trolling let me know. Peace in the mideast bitches!
