I have read that it is bad. I think you want a cool and dark place. And not conducive to mold.

A cool DARK place is needed for drying... The slower you dry your herbs the better they taste. If you have a light on in your dry room it will speed up the drying process.

The light and heat will destroy THC and other goodies. Keep in a dark an area about 70 degrees with 40-60 relative humidity

While light does degrade THC, I doubt that your crop will be degraded to any extent that anyone would ever notice in the time it takes to cure. I would be more worried about air movement - you will more likely get mold in a stagnant room.
