alright i picked a plant from my grow room that finished b4 all the others and after drying and curing, i was going to smoke a bowl and i found a seed. just one though. it was really weird to me though because there was no males at all during the budding cycle. it wasnt the most developed seed, it was actually more whitish/yellow than the brown tiger striped look of normal seeds. i was just wondering how could this happen? and is the seed viable?

Yeah I read on here a single seed like you got will probably be a female. That's how I got mine. Like a little gift from your plant

It's actually somewhat common, i wont lie and say i really understand why the male pollen that it must of made at some point didnt hit others and make more seeds, but i see people on here w/this fairly often and have had it happen to myself before. I would watch that seed if you decide to grow it out very carefully, it may be more sensitive to stress and going hermie, or it could be a plain old genetic hermie, of course it could also end up being a female plant, but watch it close.

so ur saying the hermie gene came from it being pollenated by itself in someway? saying that it somewhat went hermie in the smallest way to make only 1 seed? or maybe its like a last ditch plan from the plant to pass on genes, realizing it didnt getpollinated?

tbh im unsure of why they do it, just that for some unknown reason your plant must of made a bit of pollen at some point. it might be genetic, it might be cuz it started to freak out it wasnt pollinated, although with that usually the male flowers are not viable and are fairly easy to see and identify, its hard to tell what made it make the male flower it must of made. that seed may be unstable genetically though since it appears to be coming from a plant that pollinated itself.

yea its crazy, cuz i stare at my plants atleast 5-10 times a day for 5 mins +, and im pretty positive there was no hermie parts on my ladies. but hey, her buds taste sweet, so hopefully the seed pops in next day or 2, then we can find out if shes a fem :) im excited, never carried on an offspring from 1 of my females

It's a false seed.... I'll bet it's just a shell with no plant embryo. The female cannot produce viable seed without a male or hermaphrodite donor. It's a false seed pod. Google "false seed". The plant was probably flowered past it's peak and she was preparing to make seed, but was never pollinated.

I've had plant make 1 seed before, seeds i planted. so far im 2 ended up being female and 2 were hermies.thats why i told him to watch for hermies. so it is completely possible his seed would of been viable had he let it mature.

I'm liking the false seed theory, but there is another possibility - transfer.

Pollen grains are very tiny and pollen is extremely resilient up to a certain expiration period. All it takes is one grain.

I've read accounts of viable pollen traveling up to 50 miles from point of origin. Please don't ask me to source that - too baked.

Transfer could be done by hands, clothes, shoes, hair, or an pollen-infected grow space.

Yeah, possible hermi is my first inclination. However, it's a wind pollenated plant,......... if your intake isn't filtered and sealed, or you don't change clothes before entering your room it's possible the guy on the end of the block that has a male or hermi in his room is responsible for the pollen.

Yup the false seed theory was right, never popped. also cut down another one and it had the exact same thing, another yellow non viable seed. just 1. either they're false seeds or u have to wait alot longer for the seeds 2 develop. i picked w/ about 70% hairs

i saw this happen to 3 of my plants. all were the same age, all were female clones, and all grew green little seeds (4-6 on each) idk how it happened because my other two plants which were different strains had no seeds at all. so i know that pollen wasnt to blame, they jsut somehow developed seeds..
