Why are people such a_holes about LEDS?

Let the haters hate, as long as you get the results you desire, that's all the respect you need. LEDs nowadays can compare and even exceed the results of HID. We have all seen amazing grow journals with LEDs.

that. In my experense HID rule over all but if your having the results you like with them then im happy for you. Im not one of those that are just saying they
dont work without ever using them cuz I have and didnt get what your talking about, but no big deal they just gather dust in the closet. Dont for any reason

The next time you do an experiment, document it every step of the way. Start a Journal with descriptions and pictures of what you are doing. That way you will be able to support your claims and the rest of us will see the results. You know what you did and how you did it, all we have is what you say, no proof. Seeing it in progress helps with believing it actually happened. I am not criticizing, just trying to point out why someone would.

Because LED growers come across as spammers. They have underwhelming grows, claim extraordinary yields, then link you to a website where you can make a purchase.

I am not opposed to LEDs. They do not fit my budget. I am not a hater, I just don't have any experience with them. I don't even trust the digital ballasts on HIDs because I cannot rebuild them myself for about $40.00. Grow with what you know. Always remember, it isn't how you are growing but rather are you growing?

i was thinking of it more like: a) if you are a sergeant that is CURRENTLY IN THE ARMY then you really shouldnt be growing anyway, dont you know its against the rules lmao
or
b)if you WERE a sergeant in the army why do you think that now has a bearing on whether ppl believe you or not on a weed forum?
p.s. this is nothing about your service(which im sure everyone thanks you for) but more about why being a sergeant in the army changes whether or not ppl believe a story you tell online, im just curious

my only problem with LED lights are the price and the number of knock-off junk places like ebay pawn off as a grow light just cause it looks purple-ish.
Its really hard to find LED systems that use the right wavelength LEDs obviously quad-band is ideal dew to the fact that chlorophyll has for peak absorption points (2 for A and 2 for B) however each both have a dominate peak so a dual band would be acceptable. at any rate its just alot more complicated to use LEDs for most ppl where as every knows HID lights work good (better then 98% of the junk being sold as LED grow lights) and they are cheap and the list of major decisions are limited to 400w, 600w, or 1000w. Don't get me wrong if i could by a quad-band 700-1200watt LED light with 3watt LEDs on the 450nm, 490nm, 640nm and 680nm wavelengths for about $350 i would be all over it. but such a system would probably cost nearly $2500 and there are so many that do not meet those exact wavelengths and can vary drastically dew to less than optimal "design" that they end up being less efficient than a simple HPS.
There is also the concern with light penetration, with a 1000w HPS you can leave it well above the tops and it will still penetration to the lower branches, where as with LEDs and CFLs they must constantly be adjusted to keep them the optimal distance from the plant. However with the new 5watt LEDs just around the corner many of these gaps are being filled in and performance is getting better and better.
Bare in mind unless it hits those wave lengths pretty close then it is pointless to use over HID dew to the drastic drop in actual light output. LEDs capitalize on putting out the specific light that a plant can use the best and not putting out light on all the other wavelengths that are far less used by the plant in order to reduce heat and wasted light, thus maximizing the efficiency allowing you to turn a much larger % of your electricity into un-wasted light. HIDs operate by producing huge amounts of light bombarding the plant with a wide range of spectrum's at very high intensity. Providing good amounts of light in the needed spectrum. This of course wastes a lot of energy that is not readily used by the plant. The one benefit of this is the lack of precision needed dew to the wide range of high wavelengths at high intensity.
all in all LEDs are the future but its like buying your weed from some shady guy in an ally charging $600 an oz, as opposed to buying it in a coffee shop in Europe. The guy in the ally might have some super dank stuff that will knock your socks off but at least in the coffee shop you know your getting good stuff at a reasonable price.
all that being said.....does anyone have any recommendations of a good high power LED system for a reasonable price?

being in any branch of service honorable is things no matter what your rank is there are alot of us that have spilled blood including my self so bashing
him or anyone else will stop its not honorable and theres no integrity in it, and anybody on here that thinks otherwise dont know the meaning of selfless service.
whether or not LED=good or bad it dont matter if it work for you great, no need to cause pain when we are trying to relieve it

I currently run 4 600 watt digital HPS and a 200 w cfl and am looking to add some supplemental... the LED's have a major thing going for them.... no to low heat.... Like I need some more heat in my room already....
And I do not sell anything related to this industry... no lights, no gear, no nutes.... I grow with organics in soil .... Long live the Myco herd
