C99 and Pure Gooey DWC SCROG

IMG_0171.jpgIMG_0172.jpgIMG_0167.jpgIMG_0174.jpgIMG_0173.jpgI guess i shouldve clarified myself. I do have the drop-in color tester, the cheap one, i just dont do it every time. doesnt seem necessary cause i know what the results are gonna be. however the ppm meter is gonna be used on the next grow for sure. did anyone check out my shit?

Looks fantastic Flo! "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Flo Grow again."
Thanks Weedler !
You always show some love.

hey bro, your shit looks real good. ive got a DWC system in some five gallon buckets and its kind of a pain in the ass already to change the water every week, and ive only got one plant per bucket. im curious, what is your method when you put new water in. is it a two person job? right now i just put an empty bucket next to the plant and lift it and the roots in the empty one and rinse out the other bucket.
To be honest D-Mac, if you peep the beginning of the thread you'll see a "trap-door" on the bottom left corner of my lid.
It's roughly 4" x 4", I forget, but it allows me to exchange 1/2 gallon frozen water bottles w/ two 0.5lb fishing weights sunk at the bottom.
The weights are just enough to keep the bottle in place because I don't wont to have to lift the whole lid searching for it.
I take my readings, top-off and remove water with my 5gal Bucket Max wet/dry vac from Lowes for $20 through the trap-door.
Remember, my Igloo is 12gal with 10gal of water so I have little to no fluctuations in PPM's, only with Temps.
I only do AND did total rez changes at the end of Veg/start of Bloom.
But again, with a rez my size and top-offs of 0.5 to 1 gal of water daily, I can do that.
With fresh water added daily and nutes weekly, I've YET to have nute lock-out or probs with salt.
My aim is to ALWAYS keep PH a perfect 5.8 for hydroponics !!!!!!!
ALL nutes are consumed ONLY at that MAGIC NUMBER.
No need for fluctuations to hit all across the board IF you can keep your PH stable.
You're even better at a constant 5.7 to 5.9, than letting it bounce from 5.5 to 6.5 like popular belief. Even in that range you hit the NEXT best range for the most nutes to be available at a SINGLE time.
Your way is old-school and very effective.
Keep at it or upgrade like me.

Hey Flo I need a sounding board regarding defoliation in a ScrOG in 12/12.

Just before I went 12/12 I went through all of the plants and cut out all of the fan leaves that were stuffed under the 1 1/2" high screen. Within 4 days the plant generated all new fan leaves with the majority of them sprouting out above the screen. Taking away so much leaf material was frightening but in the end the plants responded with huge growth!

As you can see, my ScrOG has exploded and just from a quick count across the canopy I count at least 25 colas! :D A good thing!

In the second pic, you see me holding back a small part of the plant exposing even more bud sites starting to explode just above the screen as well, as many as 40 more of these underneath. But these lower bud sites are being shaded from the huge fan leaves growing out of each of the top bud sites.

So the question is, would you feel comfortable cutting the fan leaves away only from the top bud sites. Will this affect the nourishment of the tops or will the lower fan leaves support them just fine as well as giving more lumens to the lower sites coming up through the canopy? There was no recourse during vegetation but I'm not sure about cutting during 12/12.

I guess I could cut a few and observe. Just wondering if you have any thoughts or insight.

Nice ass SCROG JS !
One rule for SCROG is to remove any fan leaves blocking a budsite(s) above the screen.
Your defoliation is key too.
The re-growth is very common and to be expected.
Take a little over an extended course of time as to avoid too much shock and a harder hit to your yield.
Clip NOTHING below the screen until the 12/12 stretch is OVER b/c you'll be surprised at what can end up at top.
Stretch can obviously range 10 - 21 days depending on strain, so be watchful.
At that point, ANY and ALL branches/buds that are not above the screen gets chopped.
I find myself trimming as needed until week 4 or 5 of Bloom.

d. mcandrews, if nothing else you need to get the ph drop testers with the color chart so you can at least keep them close to optimal. You can find them online or in a lot of pet stores, just make sure they check the ph range you're shooting for.
TJP is right on with that advice.
I had to do that for my first two indoor grows.
Good Hanna and Milwaukee combo meters can be had on EBay and Amazon for $50 - $60, that hydro shops will hit you for twice as much.

Much love to all for dropping by !
Time for some pics now.
We always show pics but then I keep realizing it's also hard to gauge the size of someone else's buds.
So I hope you all enjoy the show..............lol

Forgot to mention they have been flushing in 260 PPM water w/ Floralicious only, for 4 days now.
I put 100ml of GH Floralicious in the 10gals = 260 PPM.
My R/O water is 18 PPM prior to any additives.
PPM's are now at 170.
Will be cutting that in half tonight, for another 3 or 4 days.
Notice the nice fades to yellow in the leaves as the chlorophyll and remaining nutes are being used up.
That is what you want so you'll have clean and smooth/even burning buds with white ash in your bowl !!!
If you got snap, crackle and pop but not holding a bowl of Rice Crispy's OR black/gray ash...........then you didn't flush well enough.

My plants sit in 2 gallon tanks and drink 3 gallons per week. I don't have to do any water changes. :)

You have bigger tanks which should produce bigger plants and if your environmental conditions are optimal your plants should drink the same ratio as mine. As long as pH and PPMs stay consistent through the drinking process even with top offs you know the plants are eating and drinking in a balanced fashion. Spikes or gradual climbs in PPMs mean the plant is leaving certain nutrients behind which eventually lead to climbs in PPMs as you top off your tanks. To solve this, allow your pH to drift up and down between 5.5 and 6.5. This allows the plant to take up a wider spectrum of nutes.

Ask anyone who maintains an aquarium if they do a complete water change every week! I have a 15 gallon fresh water tank...I don't think so.

A properly maintained water system will eventually establish a colony of beneficial bacteria and microbes. These microbes (although not effective against bugs) will eat all of the rotting material in your water including all the bits of roots which fall off along the way.

Observe your water throughout. It should be a bit cloudy and only bits of fresh root material floating around. That's OK as long as you don't see any dead brown bits. It should smell fresh, almost no smell. Your roots should smell like fresh lettuce or alfalfa sprouts.

The question you should ask, if it's been 10 days since your last water change of 5.8 pH and PPM of 900 and today your water reads 5.9 pH and PPM of 910 with clear, fresh smelling water, what do you want to do?

I know what I'd be doing! bongsmilie bongsmilie bongsmilie
Not to sound like a jerk, but good luck keeping beneficial bacteria colonies in dwc. Unless it's recirculating (correct me if it is, I'm browsing on my cell phone) an air stone bubbling enough to grow a plant will prevent most bacteria or microbes from reproducing, colonizing, and surviving. Think about the difference of life and conditions in an aquarium. I personally don't believe in drifting pH, hydroponic horticulture books teach a pH of 5.8 to 5.9 during vegetative stages, 5.9 during flower,6.0 in late flower, and even as high as 6.3 during flush, but I rarely go past 6.1. Source for pH information is jorge cervantez's medical marijuana horticulture growers bible, most recent edition. Drifting your pH above 6.0 is not recommended in the book actually, it says you can go between 5.5 and 6.5 but slow and steady with as little fluctuation as possible is always the best way. Always be careful adding pH up and down, adding it to quickly can kill whatever bacteria or microbes might be clinging on, despite the air stone.

Also, I'm not saying nothing is gonna survive the air stone, but I don't think it's enough to see a real benefit, at least I haven't seen a difference in any of my DWC buckets.

On another note: so far this has been a beautiful grow and I'm glad I caught a glimpse.

Good lookin out DJ !
Glad to have you back with us.
Looking forward to 3 weeks after harvest, myself ! lol

can you tell me a good place to get Cinderella-99 seeds or where you got yours?
In all honesty Justin, I direct everyone to Joey Weed and his official F2's of original Bros Grimm/Mr Soul Cinderella 99 !
A Yahoo/Google serach for Joey Weed C99 will get you to him at Hemp Depot !
Very trustworthy to order from !
Mine came from a friend that gifted these to me.
The breeder's name is Neferti, from Breedbay.

TIME TO CHANGE GEARS AROUND THIS BIATCH.....................

I finally harvested her ass !
She turned out to be bigger than I thought she was too.
This is has to be the SINGLE, largest plant for me so far.
No training, just topped at the 4th node like Mr Soul suggested to do with Cindy.
A few of her branches sagged from their weight.
Very dense, sticky and sweet/foul smelling.
The easiest plant I've trimmed too.
I left some of the larger sugar leaves on, and will trim them up once she dries a little.

NO WET WEIGHT EITHER !
Not going to bother, for the first time.
The 2 previous lower branches that I quick dried weighed a VERY dry 15 grams, just so ya'll know.
If it's less than 4 ounces, I'll be very surprised.
I'm hoping for 5 - 6 to be honest.
I hung 3 lines that I thought would be enough, each 32 inches long.
Yet I had to break out my drying box for the rest, and THAT is filled to the max.

ALRIGHT, ENOUGH FUCKING YAPPIN......................

I also experimented wih something.....................
When I culled the last Cindy and Pure Gooey around week 2 of Bloom, because they both were male, I only cut them at the base.
I left the rest of the 2 plants in the rapid rooters AND their roots in the cooler, THROUGHT THE REMAINING BLOOM CYCLYE UNTIL TONIGHTS HARVEST !!!
All 3 plants were already tangled pretty good, so I left them alone.
I figured/hoped that since there was going to be PLENTY of Dissolved Oxygen in the water, not to mention nutes, the 2 stumps and their roots should survive.
Needless to say everything worked out fine ! lmao
I saw no change in color, from all 3 root zones.
No odors.
No instability with PH or PPM.
Just made sure to keep the stumps covered for the remaining of bloom.
Seeing IS believing..............................

awesome bro....... great job
Thanks TJP, I appreciate that !

very sexy! how many days into flower did you end up chopping? can you give a smoke report on the samples you pulled vs. the main cut?
Thanks again, KR !
It was between weeks 2 and 3, but closer to 2, when I chopped the other 2 plants.
They should be dry by Sunday, so a better smoke report shouldn't be a problem, with an OFFICIAL report in about 3 weeks too.
Big difference in high between the Day 40, Day 46 and Day 54 "quick-dry-and-smoke" nugs.
Day 40 = Really mellow
Day 46 = Made me want to do things/get active
Day 54 = Played Wii then I was asleep an hour later........lmao

Taste is not very "green" or "hayish" since I gave a real good flush.
Smooth smoke but nothing like a good dry and cure though.
3 weeks from now will be a very good time !!!
