Coco Coir nutrients +rep for help

hey dude i had your dillema too and wanted to go completely organic so i went with sea soil coco and sunshine mix and put some of that black pearl i believe the powder was called along with pbp grow and pbp soil for later. i also have liquid karma and calmag plus and hygrozyme. i also added tarantula and phiranna to fatten up those roots. i am not sure if its an amature mistake but i started watering with a bit of molasses to feed the microbacteria in the hygrozyme and the tarantula and pirhanna. ill give you my recipe that i found and use:

AS for the PureBlend Pro, I ran it for 3+yrs on coco & still use it as my building block. This is how I like to use it on the 65-70 days strains.

Per 1gal R/O water
VEG 5-10ml of PBP Grow depending on plant size
7ml Liquid Karma
5ml CalMag+
5ml Hygrozyme

Bloom
10-15ml PBP Bloom, I like to use the "For soil" version as it has less Nitrogen
10ml Liquid Karma
5ml CalMag+
5ml Hygrozyme
Bloom booster or PK13/14 during weeks 4-6
I stop with the calmag+ & Hygrozyme 4 weeks b4 finish.
Then a 10 day flush with SWEET & final 4 days of straight R/O

In a weird way, I almost feel like the Bloom plus the Cal-Mag would make a nice Veg nutrient while the Grow plus a high P bloom supplement would be good for flowering. I can see using the Bloom the whole way through, but I could also see using the Grow the whole way through.

In flowering you'll need to cut Liquid Karma down and decrease the cal-mag use also. Then you can incorporate a blooming supplement and that Sweet for the Magnesium boost. If you want to stay in the family then Botanicare Hydroplex would probably be a good choice. Interestingly enough, Cannazym would be an acceptable addition as well with 0-2-1 ratio and the addition of enzymes which will aid the organics.

If you wanted cheap and organic the Organicare line from Botanicare is CHEAP! A 5 lbs tub of Organicare Pure is under $20 and you'll use it at the rate of about 1/2 a tsp per gallon of coco every month. Then you simply add a little Humic and supplement the Micro-elements with Huvega, Humega, and Calplex. These products are all OMRI listed and would result in an actually organic system. Maybe next time.

In conclusion I think that the only thing you'll need to add to run these nutrients in coco to their full potential is to add a higher phosphorus bloom supplement. Powdered KoolBloom, Hydroplex, CannaZym, all of these are under $30 and will probably make a big difference later on. It can be pretty tough piecing together an effective system which is why I think the CNS 17 would have been a more educated choice. As a stand alone system you can hit the right ratios for coco without much manipulation or supplementation.

This PBP though not designed or tuned for coco will still produce results. I use my own nutrient calculator to estimate my ppm levels of each element based on the labels. This makes mixing 6 to 8 different items together possible without completely upsetting the system. It is all about moderation and dialing it in just right and this is something that takes time and practice. Gotta start somewhere right?

You can grow in coco with just about any system... So long as I have a high P bloom supplement and some Cal-Mag to supplement it for the media's requirements.

+rep EXACTLY what I was looking for. This would be using everything in that kit. I also have clearex that I will use once a week. I'll use SWEET every watering -10ml veg, 20ml bloom. Is hygrozyme a real necessity? I also thought SWEET was a bloom booster...

Whoa, it definitely seems like you know what you're talking about. I'll def cut down on the liquid bloom. I mean, I'm still deciding on what to get. What I might do is test out PBP and the supplement kit for this grow and then after that, I'll test out CNS 17 with the same strain. Thanks for all your help man. I'll keep you tuned in when my nutes and auto seeds get in. I could use more of your advice throughout my logs if that's possible.

Every strain and every phenotype will have their quirks. Just watch the plants and keep researching. Don't expect to get it perfect the first time around. Be glad if you do... but it takes time to learn the ins and outs. Especially when it comes to coco.

It'll work out, you've got good stuff. Just don't mess with it too much. You don't want to be mixing like 6 things together with no real concept of what each is accomplishing. Stick to the macro, cal-mag for the coco, and the liquid karma because I think the stuff is legit (used it, didn't use it, happier plants when using it). Then in flowering you switch cal-mag for Sweet and cut back on the LK. Add that bloom booster and you're using 4 different products. The key at that point is to keep the value of everything low... but the more you add to the system to more complex the system becomes. For a new grower... Complexity = Confusion.

Just do plenty of research and stick to low levels of everything and it should work out. Always get a bunch of run off.

I wouldn't worry too much about my nutes - ALL of the major manufacturers make quality products that work incredibly well. All of the suggestions here are great. I too love Botanicare - the PB Pro complete schedule is easy to follow and works well as a complete recipe or as a major foundation, Canna is arguably the best coco - and their nutes are quite possibly some of the best for coco as well. Check out the videos on their site to fiend! Advanced works, simple. I don't like their marketing and all the hype around their products, but I have used them all with much success. I am currently using Roots Organics Soul Synthetics line with Royal Gold Basement coco mix and having a great time. I would recommend these nutes as well. I used CN17 in Botanicare Ready Gro coco bales with great results too. My last run was in Botanicare coco with Heavy16 - and that's all I used short a little Sweet and CalMag (which I have since found out I did not need!) What I am getting at is that they all will work. Nutes are a small part of the equation. To start, I would keep it simple and follow the feed schedule (at a lighter dosage to start) from any decent nute line.

You got me thinking... I have used so many product lines in coco. I just thought of a couple more that worked great too - CuttingEdge (cheap!) and Bloom (yellow bottle).

If you like nutes that smell good - Botanicare PB Pro is good enough to drink! Roots Organics Soul Synth grow smells like Snapple, and the Amino Aide smells like pancake syrup! CN17 is like hair conditioner and will actually turn to a thick gel if you don't keep the lid on tight - but it looks and smells kind of like coconut creme - yummy! Organic Sweet from Yellow Bottle smells like tomato soup. Berry Sweet from Botanicare is also yummy on pancakes and ice cream!

PS - don't really drink your nutes!

Damn. I was really fixing to drink my nutes. haha. Sounds like you've been doing a lot of experimenting. That's a lot of product lines. What was your most favorite? Then again, I'm sure each strain reacts differently.

I think Botanicare is a good place to start -- Use the entire Pure Blend Pro feed schedule with all addatives. Start at 50% strength and move up to about 75% strength (their recipe is a little high for most strains in coco - even with 0 ppm water).

This is a great time to buy nutrients - just about all the manufacturers recently lowered their prices big time! (about half price for most products). Take note of this, as many online stores have yet to catch up with pricing.

I have yet to finish with the Roots Organics Soul Synthetics line, but am loving this product line so far (day 8 of flower). These products have that organic feel - yet you can tell they are thoroughly modern. They contain lots of natural ingredients alongside the essential elements which are chelated (spelling?) - which means they are in a form more readily available to plants - without having to be broken down first as non-chelated elements do. This is a common trend among many of the new nutrient lines - because it works! I am not sure about Botanicare, but Heavy16 is another modern nutrient that utilizes chelated elements. These types of nutes are more forgiving of PH too (they are already broken down and not relying upon a biological process to occur to make the nutrients available which needs to happen within a given PH range).

Food for thought... I mean - Food for Plants!
