I am having a problem with my lighting. I have a 400 watt HPS and a MH lamps. When the plants are babies I start with an 80 watt fluorescent bulbs. That keeps the babies leaves growing very close together but the problem with the fluorescent is it slow in growing. When I use the 400 watt MH lamp, if I put it down too close, the leaves start burning. But once I raise the MH lamp or even use the HPS, the plants do grow faster but there are no under leaves which will cause a poor harvest. Any suggestions? What am I doing wrong?
you definitly need an exhaust fan. especialy with the models that have a built in ballast and if yuo are growing in an enclosed area like a tent. i used a 4" inline fan very similar to this one: http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-GrowBright-4in-High-Velocity-Inline-Fan.asp
you must vent it out of th room so you dont recirculate the hot air back into your grow chamber. ventilation is just as important as the light you use. a freind of mine tried with a similar setup to mine (150, tent) but he did not vent properly his plants got fried and had to harvest at week 4-5. he got 4 grams of hash out of it in the end. compared to what i got. and the main difference was the ventilation

do you have an air cooled hood? what is the ventilation like? when using HIDs in an enclosed area, having aircooled hoods means you can get those light as close to the plants as possible without them burning.

no you got 175 off a 600w. now that is a pathetic yeild and your plant was fried as shit maybe you should lay off the nutes and try to keep it green. if i was getting only 175 g off a 600w i would be embarrassed too.
