Thanks!

Wow - I'm looking over my grow notes and it was interesting the way I ran this time. I try to plan what I want to feed to my plants and when - actually writing it down on a calendar - and then try to follow that schedule as best I can taking into consideration the actual physical appearance of the plant. Due to weather and whatever, I had to alter course a bit towards the end of veg ( I mention it in a prior post how I had fallen behind a feed). So while this is what I did, this is not the schedule I wanted to follow.

  • 2.10 - transplant to 9x9 square 160/6.0 - of B1 and SS grow
  • 2.11 - nothing
  • 2.12 - 600 / 6.0 late veg formula - moved the lights to 18/6
  • 2.13 - nothing
  • 2.14 - lite water with CalMag only 200 / 5.9
  • 2.15 - nothing
  • 2.16 - nothing
  • 2.17 - switched to early flower formula 885 / 5.9
  • 2.18 - nothing - switched lights to 12/12
  • 2.19 - nothing - switched to HPS lamps
  • 2.20 - nothing
  • 2.21 - lite feed early flower formula 450 / 6.0
  • 2.22 - nothing
  • 2.23 - good feed at 1100 / 5.85 early flower formula
Wow interesting. U ended at around 600-800ppm. Those girls were huge before u switched to 12/12

I kicked to 12/12 when they were all 12 - 16" - with most being right around 14" They are growing about an inch a day - with several plants at 20" or so now. I could probably do as well with just 6 plants per tent, but I'm on my way with 8! I can't tell if they are going to stretch lots more or not?

Here is my issue:

If they are going to stretch a lot more, I will leave the trays as they are and run a double row of netting setting the first row now. I will add the second row 12 inches above the first. I will clean up the sucker shoots and set my pots in position for the next 50+ days.

If the are not going to stretch much more, I will raise the trays 1 foot and set a single row of net trellis.

Tomorrow will be the start of Week 2, I will make a decision then.

lionsroar so you think 6 plants in a tent would balance out better? 4 in stretch isnt very much, let us know how much @ 2 and @ 3 week if you dont mind.

4 in is just the start! They've grown another 2" plus since then... but for every inch they grow taller - they grow 4" wider. They are crowded! I will post some pics later if I can. At day 9 of flower they still have another 2 weeks of rapid growth (I am guessing).

I am going to remove 1 or 2 plants from each tent... I don't know what to do with them... I can put em in a zone and revert em to veg - though that can be bunk... but sometimes it causes insane branching and creates a super bush!

To be honest - with this strain - I would have done 2-4 plants per tent! I would have veg'd em for another week, splayed out the branches LST with string or wire ala SubCool - and let em rip! These plants have an amazing natural structure - and if you have the room they will grow a big round bush of buds. As it is, I have been holding them back due to space constraints in the tent. There is a point of diminishing returns... Each of these plants would naturally use a much larger light footprint than I am giving. I realize this can be said for most indoor gardens, but this strain emphasizes that point.

Supposedly, it is Skywalker OG. What do you think?

I have 1 plant that looks to be something like Sour Diesel or something - and others are a classic little bush, and many are something in between. All 16 are doing well. These are some of the last shots before I trim the lower growth and set the net trellis in the tents (scheduled for tomorrow--but so busy on Monday).

Thanks, StonerB! At Day 15 of flower, everything is still going well. I have been busy, but I managed to get some nice pictures I will post later.

Here are some mini cuts I took from 12 day flowering plants. They are delicate little mini cuts I made from sucker shoots. I wasn't sure they would last over night, but after 4 days plus they actually look better than the picture below taken about an hour after clipping.

Skywalker OG "mini-cuts" from sucker shoots of plants 12 days into flower.

Day 12 hints at some of the good things to come.

Skywalker OG at day 15 of flower.

Yesterday was day 15 of my flower cycle in two tents of Skywalker OG. There are 8 plants per tent. They seemed to have stopped stretching so I raised the trays 3 days ago, planning on setting my trellis... and then they stretched a bit last night and a couple are now only a foot from the light. I'm not sure if I can just bend my way out of it or if I should lower the trays back down.

If I knew the strain, of course, I would have set my trellis weeks ago -- that would have been much more effective. This Skywalker has a great natural stature so I am getting away with letting her run. The lowest branches have really nice nugs too - so keeping the tray higher will help these low level buds get more light. I have begin a selective defoliation campaign too which will further aid in getting light to the secondary canopy.

The trays have been raised 9" in each tent. At Day15 of flower they are ready for some direction; trellis coming soon!

I need to make a decision in the next 1 - 3 days max... I suppose If I set the trellis with the tray raised, I could just cut it out if I had to lower the trays in a week. haha so funny! It's not good when your plants are running the show as mine are - normally this is not the way I like to grow! haha

Mini-cuts at 4 days. Reverting to veg state and forming roots is a big task for small cuts. These cuts were taken at 12 days into flower.

Thanks! I can't wait to see how I do my screen too! haha I have 'installed' the Botanicare trellis late into flower - but this time, I may be dreaming! haha Luckily, the Skywalker doesn't stretch the way a real OG does, so I have some options for canopy management.

Most plants are about 2 feet tall - so the light can easily light the lowest nugs if leaves aren't in the way. I am going to clean up the sucker shoots one more time, and then use selective leaf removal over the course of the remaining flower cycle; defoliation. I may then skip the trellis!

I have recently found another reason to keep these plants 'mobile' and skip the trellis. Check my future post to find out why.

I consider start of flower when the photo period changes to 12/12.

At 18 days of flower I removed a herme plant. I thought it looked male from the start but I'm working with clones here - and it had hairs so I disregarded the rest. Like a beautiful TV she fooled me! haha

Had this been a solitary plant, I would have given the male parts a clip and let her finish out. The plants in the tents (24 days into flower) were crowded anyway, so I was happy to take one out - and his sisters immediately filled the space.

Hey Joe, take a walk on the wild side...

Would you kick this girl out of bed?

This chick's got some balls!

Life got in the way of my grow but the garden was kind and did well without my help! OK - that's not true... a very capable friend watered and watched things for me while away. After a week of being gone, I did not recognize the girls - they all have fat juicy buds!

I will get some pics up shortly...

The clones are starting to root too, with 2 or 3 cubes showing nicely. It takes a little time to turn em around from flower to veg, but it can be done! For those that care - it took about 9 - 10 days for those first to show. I am guessing cuttings from this plant material in veg state can be rooted in 7 days and ready to plant in 10. I will be closer to 14 - 15+ days. Like I even have anything to do with these cuts! haha

I will get some pics up shortly...
