Cops just came to the apartment due to a complaint against my bf

youre right they could force entry...but that's nothing a good lawyer couldnt handle in court...

ive been told by my cop friends to NEVER answer the door when LE is knocking...especially if you got some illegal shit going on. but i live in a big city where the cops actually have shit to do, maybe its a lil different in small towns.

I think you will find you'd need an EXTREMELY good lawyer to push away that type of forced entry. I have tried under those exact reasons. Until the door is opened, they cannot make any assumptions on the safety of the supposed victim, by law they have to enter, and they can enter. However the situation turns out to be is a seperate matter. The only aprt you could possbily contest to your advantage in court would be the anture of the disturbance to force such a use of power. As has been said, the noises would pretty much guaranteed be assumed as domestic violence, the swearing and smashing and thumping etc. The polce would remain completely in the right for having forced entry.

You are totally right though, if you've given them no reason such as this story, to have them knocking on the door, then simply don't open it, or simply open it and close it straight in their face once you've seen who it is :)

at this point, i'm fucking paranoid that TWO cops live right above me AND they said they can hear almost anything we do.
that's why i hate apartments...paper fucking thin walls, nosy neighbors, etc.

as this thread continues i have no choice but to nominate your boyfriend as man of the year... i cant be the only one here that has to deal with a complaning woman. i mean come on. u probobly yell at him all the time, he might of not wanted to take a shower with u cuz he just got finished jerking off, and wanted to do something else.what wrong with that.
i think the boyfriend deserves a nomanee as man of the year.

The police will tell you a lot of things :lol: by that they most likely mean when you slam doors or use the washing machine. Ceilings can only be so thin. I can hear things through walls, but rarely more than clunks and bangs through the floors of my apartment. Only really things like washing machines etc. Certainnly not conversation. Look at it like this, if they can hear everything you are doing/saying it stands to reason that you will be able to hear everything they are doing or saying, unless it's some magical ceiling that allows sound to only travel one way. So do you hear everything they do?

Yea.. he probably is a little bitch. If he can't keep his domain clean with or with out his womans help it is his problem. If he was so discontent with your daily activities he would leave if he didn't have his own issues.

Seriously...I'm very sensitive too drug abuse as many of you know...but pot? CMON! Like I don't wanna pry in...but how old are you guys? Like when I was 15ish my gf's would bug me too quit. Now that I'm going on 20 and so are basically anyone I date (alot of times older...can't fuck with lil girls anymore) they don't give a shit about smoking pot. Could be ALOT worst....
