Hydro + Beginner help

Hi,

I'm looking for some useful advice & help because i've had a look around on the forum and can't really seem to find a answer for my questions.

This will be my first grow and i'll be using a hydro set up. I've started germing the seeds i have and they have cracked and started showing their root, is it ok to place them into Jiffy Pellets?

If it's ok to place them into the Jiffy Pellets, should i still keep them in a dark and warm place until they start appearing over the top? Or should i be placing them under the light right away?

Also, with the hydro set i bought, it came with the Jiffy Pellets and Rockwall blocks am i correct in assuming it is ok to place the Jiffy Pellet into the Rockwall Block once its started rooting well? Should i remove the mesh on the Jiffy Pelllet or not?

I hope these aren't stupid questions but if they are sorry in advance, but this is all new too me so hopefully i can get to grips with it soon.

** If the green foot is poking out they can be put into Rockwool Or Jiffy Pellets (personally i Hate Jiffy Pellets)

**When the First set of round Leaves Come Out they can Use the light then Before this is pretty much useless.... But keep them warm and humid

**I never use jiffy pellets (tho I have in the past) I'd Poke a hole in the rockwool and drop your seed right into that instead.. Jiffy pellets seem to stay to wet for my liking I usually Drown Or dry out the roots in them....The roots will come thru the mesh on the jiffy pot if you do go Jiffy to Rockwool

I hope these aren't stupid questions but if they are sorry in advance, but this is all new too me so hopefully i can get to grips with it soon.

** Nothing Can Substitute Good Old Fashioned Seen It with my Own eyes Learning :)

Not a dumb question at all.First of all.Go out and but a good grow book.It tells you everything you need to know about growing indoors.Yes you can place your seeds into the jiffy pellets.If you are using T-5s or cfl it is ok to use them while your seeds turn into saplings NO HIDS>.If you have a grow tray with a dome it is better to put them in there untill you have saplings.Yes i would remove the saps from the jiffy pellets before placing them into the rw cubes,but make sure that you ph the cubes first.I personally dont grow hydro anymore I grow aeroponically and stopped using rockwool years ago.I found out that rooting plugs There composted tree bark works a little better are are less of a hastle than rw.You dont have to ph them and dont need to wear gloves either

You can put jiffy pellets into rockwool. yes you put your seeds into the expanded pellets. No you don't remove the mesh around the pellets or else they will fall apart. If I was you I'd throw away the jiffy pellets and just put them straight into rock wool if possible (I don't know what type block your using).

If I was starting from seed I would just germinate the seed straight in the rock wool. that way I wouldn't have to mess with it or waste seeds.

Jiffy pellets are known to carry pests i'd seriously ditch them since they will only clog up your hydro setup in the long run.

Thanks guys, rep+ you all for the advice!

To be honest, the jiffy pellets seem more hassle with the fact they could carry pests etc I should of thought of that myself lol. I haven't used the Rockwell or jiffys yet so would like to know peoples opinions on what other good mediums can be used with my gt205 kit. Looking forward to seeing these progress. To gets crossed!

Just another quick question.

I moved the Seed that was germinating in tissue into a rock wall cube, i had soaked the rockwall cube for 24 hours in advance in ph'd water then drained as much of the water out with a strainer (playing tennis) and put the seed root down, looked at them this evening and this one is kind of "arched" over like a upside down U and the bend on the root is slightly brown? Is that normal?

next time use rapid rooters cube, are a bit more $ but no ph adgustment or soaking and there 100% usable in all mediums

is the root exposed to light? if so it will brown and may die. Yes you should invest in rapid rooters they work way better and they fit directly into rock wool.
