Some of them are even amber. But the buds are tiny, the size of my thumb. I'm new at growing so help me! will the buds continue to grow or are they almost done when they start turning amber? I would never think to pick them now. But I was told the trichomes don't lie.
I was given the plant a month ago from someone who moved out of state. So I am not sure of the exact date it started flowering.
sorry I don't have a camera....

it sure sounds like he's talking about trics if they kinda look like a big dildo.. i always say that they look like a big lolipop kinda.. or a post with a ball on the top.. if that's what your talking about, and they are the color you said, chop chop.. you could always try and take a few clones of her before you chop her though and try and give her another round..
or leave about one third of the green growth on her, and after you chop the buds, throw her back under 24 hours of light and reveg her and give her anohther round..

Trichomes for sure. a long clear stem with a milkey ball on the end of it. I'm looking through a scope to see this....

as far as i know when the trics start to go amber they are beginning to degrade so i would chop....but im a newbie so.....some1 feel free to correct me if im wrong....lol
i do know that its really a matter of personal preference....some ppl like to harvest when half of the trics are cloudy before the get amber, some like to harvest when its 50/50 amber...all a matter of personal preference....

this is very much true.. when they start to go amber, it means that the thc is degrading and is making cbn's or other forms of cannabinoids that aren't preferred by many people.. cleary and the high will be more up and as they get older and start changing colors, the high types change accordingly.. dependent on whether you like your high more up, or prefer a more stone feel to your smoke, will tell you when to chop..

I thought when u chopped them earlyier it was more of an upper high but im a newbie too, so is it the longer the more up of a high u get?

I have a question. I have 1 fem pineapple express and 1 fem califonia hash. If one turns hermie on me should I keep it in their so I get the seeds. I live some where were it is hard to get seeds so it would be nice to have alot of good seeds but I dont know if I'd rather have the bud off of one of them. They are both in the same grow space so it would be a cool mix too.

It's the other way around. Amber trichs generally mean a heavier buzz, clear or milky has more THC, so more of an "up" high.

i'm sayin trichs dont really lie from everything that i've ever heard. maybe chop a small bud and quick dry then smoke and make a personal judgment from that?

Sort of, but you have to take in the whole picture when deciding when to harvest. How long have they been flowering? Were there any stresses? Are the calyx's swelling?

It helps to start looking at your trichomes early on in the flowering phase, as some strains don't turn amber, some stay milky, etc... If you have been keeping track, and can verify that they're changing then it may be time. A better method is to watch the trichome heads and harvest when they are fully swollen and stretched out and the calyx's have swollen.

You said you don't know how long it's been flowering, do you have any guestimate? Are the buds fairly developed?
