How do you like your purple and magenta led lights. Im looking at a blackstar 240 but not sure which way to go on led lights

I just ordered on of those, seem a couple threads on them showing fairly good results.
Some people bash it saying its cheaply made and needs a heat sink, but for half the price and so far good results, I hardly see that a heat sink is work 4-500 on an led unit... pffft

i was tossing up between the blackstar 240 and the small progrow from hydrponics hut, any opinions on these? will be for a 'growboy' stealth drawer set up doin autos for now...
also a any info on the 50 watt plasma globes from hydrponics hut?

I'd say hydro hut, that's who I grow with and impressed. Their small lights sell for around 240$ on their ebay store. They have the ability to select spectra which is very nice.

Blackstars seem good but I'd stock with hydro hut if it were me

The 50 watt "plasma globe" from hydroponics hut is an induction bulb...which they do not advertise the Kelvin color temperature of, so you won’t have an idea what quality of light you will get. You can get the exact same bulb for 70 bucks, just Google induction lights, and follow a few of the sponsor adds. You'll find that bulb, and many others. The hydroponics hut...just added a white plastic cover to the bulb, and charged $150.00. That reflector must be awesome! Hydroponics Hut then advertised the bulb as plasma, which it is not.

Regarding that particular bulb, they are effective, and can easily be placed anywhere in your room. They are not primary light, but they work great as a secondary source, just like T5's. The benefit to this bulb is that the built in reflector from the base, provides a level of directionality for the all-important light photons that our plants want. I can hold the bulb in my hand after it’s been running for hours, and it feels warm. I have placed the bulb within two inches of my girls, and have seen no negative heat or light stress issues. The bulb surface does "feel" cooler to the touch than two foot T5 tubes. The bulb will screw right in to any normal E27, (Edison type) light socket.

I have not used induction bulbs for anything other than side lighting yet, but I can see their potential for vegging, rooting new clones or lighting a mother.

Induction lights have their place; just don’t spend 90 bucks for a little plastic reflector to cover a bulb.

My original intention was to purchase the 357 magnums but that didn't work out because the company has been having trouble processing payments all month apparently and my room has been on hold the whole time...

i was skeptical on the ones HH sells and glad i decided not to go that route

are they 300w actual draw or max wattage?

It's a Sunshine Systems GrowPanel Pro 300. If you do a search for it you should be able to find out more than I can tell you about it to be honest. I picked it up from the new weGrow shop in Sac. I was waiting on a 357 mag and that didn't pan out in time and when I called weGrow, they just happened to carry this particular model in stock so I decided to give it a run instead. And Thank you! I know there is another thread with someone running two of these models in a hut, but he is just getting ready to throw them into flower, so it'll be interesting to see how it turns out for him...

Hey all, I've been thinking of making the switch to led ( save some money on my power bill ) my question is: will I get the same amount of light as my 600w hps & how many Watts of led would equal 600w hps. .
Sorry if these question don't make sense but I'm kinda clueless when it comes to led lights. Thanks

tough to say depends on your setup

i used to run 4 600w lights

now i am starting to convert to led and feel like 340w (actual draw) of LEDs replace 1 600w HPS...
This is using 2 hydroponics hut 260w lights that have actual draw of 170w...

I was using magnum xxxl reflectors and 2 of these lights adequately replace my old light

1200 bux for 300w using 1w no way yo get a 300w with 3w led for cheaper and get better push than those pussy 1w diodes

they say half the wattage in led is the same as hid being replaced for bud and they say use a fifth wattage for veg as best results

I was worried that it may be an inferior LED considering what I've read in these forums. Perhaps it will be sufficient as a Veg light (4x4 area) and I can get some better models to add to the Bloom room......

If you're fed up with all of the BS you've been dealing with from various LED mfg you owe it to yourself to at least check this induction grow out. IMO this is one of the best, most complete journals I've seen and this lad is serious about his meds. He has to be with his Leukemia. I really applaud what he's done and to all of us who have endlessly debated the pros and cons of various LED products this is a straightforward option that works.

If there is any LED mfg that wants to put up panels to side by side compare to what these inda-gro lamps can do consider me subbed.

i went to a hydro shop today and saw an indagro lit up in a big tent i could look right at it i cant even look right at my 90w led panel i dont think the indagro is gonna beat any serious led

Yes thats the guy dude, Originally my 280 watt light he said should replace a 800 watt MH or get within 10% of that anyway. His LED suppliers though have launched a new LED which is alot brighter than the orinignal ones so im waiting for these which he now says will equal 1000 watt MH.

When i first ordered he seemed amazed that i would want to go up to 280 watts which seemed strange at first when you have other companys selling 600 watt+ panels. When he expalined how he worked his power out though it made sense.

All i know is that so far everything he has said makes sense and he doesnt seem like a bullshitter to me. If i can get 2g per watt(yes i know thats alot)thats 20 oz or 560g which in my mind would be as good as a 1000 watt. As i say only time will tell but if you can match a 400 watt with 120 watts of actual output i dont see how i cant match a 1000 watt with 280. Especially seeing as how this light is very expensive and only uses the most expensive LED's.

My first grow.

I am using a 5x5x6.5 grow tent.

What setup would you use:

1-1000w hps/mh
or
4- 240w Blackstar LEDs
or
5- Kessil H150

Well you are on an LED thread so of course my answer is Blackstars or Kessil.
Kessill is apparently really good, at least for penetration.
And the Blackstars are unbeatable for price to Watt ratio and apperently the 240w's easily match a 400hps (from growlogs not the company), so amybe a combo 2 - 240 blackstars for base coverage and 2 to 4 kessils to completely saturate all the way to the bottom.
Look forward to hear what you go with and hear/see results...

Don't sell yourself short yet.
Just because you didn't get the most hyped model around doesn't mean you bought a P.O.S. LED light.
From what I've read on Sunshine Systems, they veg great and flower adequately.
Give it a couple cycles before you relegate it to the veg room for good though, it may surprise you yet.

So decided to go with LED's. My original plan was 1 1000w HID.
My tent is a 5x5x6.5
My question is 5-200w leds too much?

GS-200 LED (american bridgeluex diodes)

Just trying to find out info on them... what size LED diode do they use? 1W 2Wor 3w's?
Do they say how many diodes are on the 120's?
Curious to hear how they work out as I havn't seen much on this type.
