How do u top a plant? (is the a right or wrong way). What are the pros and cons to this. How old should the plant be when u top it.

pros
- don't have to start from seed (this takes weeks)
- if your cloneing the best plant that you have then you can have more then 1 pf them
- you will know what gender it is
- you don't have to worie if the seed is gona grow or not and if it does your not gona have to waste time to find out if its a male, female or trens
cons
- I can't think of any
The Taller your mother plant when you take a clone from the top to keep the hight then it should start to bush out meening you should be able to have more branches.

You top by cutting the main stem, or the particular branch, somewhere inbetween the new growth and the next lower set of leaves. After a few days you'll then find 2 new growth tips sprouting from inbetween those leaves and the stem. Dude its all in the FAQ...
The way I interpret the Q...
The main advantages are that you can limit the hieght of your plant, whilst not necessarily decreasing the mass. You get a shorter denser plant.
The disadvantage is you stunt growth for a short period while your plant recovers and redirects growth.
Niether here nor there - you get more smaller buds rather than fewer large ones.
Check out fimming too...thats what i've been doing and its worked well for me...

DJCX12 said i will be able to tell the sex after topping. What will a make look like topped and what would the female look like. I thought u could only tell the sex in flowering stage? Thanks 4 the help.

you have to veg your plant till you can find the gender of the plant

Yup some strains mature faster and will show preflowers after a while in veg, many other strains wont really show til theyre either VERy mature or starting to flower..
There are many techniques on making a plant show sex, from flipping over to a short flower period of around two wks,check em out with a loupe til the pre flowers just start to show..Alot of times you will see the female pistils before you will see balls if its a male.
Or some people will cover up a lower branch with some black card(make sure its light proof) and do 12/12 with one branch..after a short while it will show its sex...

my Strain is Called Milliondollar and they are 2 months old, seed to plant been using 10w CFL (50w Incandescent Equiv.) for 24/0

I'm suprised theyre growing!!Thats not really enough light for them to grow let alone start showing preflowers..Are you sure its not just new growth in the nodes??
What color is the bulb? is it 2700k? Cuz i dont think they do the correct 6400k CFLs used for Vegging in 10w bulbs..
After 2 months i have like 5+ 42w CFLs on each plant.
If youre growing with the wrong color bulb it could be showing sex beacause of that.

I dk what the k is but I'm pretty sure that is higher then 3000k it acts like a 50w and they have about 6 to 7 new stem shoots on each plant but its not close to female hairs, but when I got them from my friend they could have been all female seeds

Bro youre gonna need more bulbs asap..
10w cfl is not anywhere near enough light at all...You should try to get a coupla 42w CFLs that have a color rating of 6400k(it will be on box)..you can get away with a couple of those til theyre 6/7" tall then youre gonna need more lights..
Those 6400k are the correct color for healthy vegging.
The bulb you are using is prolly a 10w 2700k color bulb, which will let the plant grow, but it will be considerably slower than with the 6400k bulbs, as the 2700k is the wrong color spectrum (it contains too much red-these 2700k are only used for flowering)
I suspect that its just new growth inbetween the nodes(i may be wrong)
But i doubt the plant has had enough light to grow and mature enough to show sex..

because my friend breeds female seeds he doesn't want any male plants but I could get more pics for you if you need it and I'm gona try to get at least 1 36w(i think i can get this kind) CFL Cool White
