Hey whats up Slojo! Just read through you journal and love the setup you built! Very nice! Your ladies are looking very healthy! I love how tight the nodes are on your plants its like they didn't even stretch at all! I wonder if thats because of the MH light you're using! I've alwasy used CFL's and never had the chance to try MH lights.. I think after my plants leave veg now i'll try it out! I built a veg cab similar to your flower box i think.. I'm in the process of figuring out everything for my flower box.. I want to build it within the next couple weeks. Anyway definitely sub'd for this one and +rep on doing your research first man! Pays off to learn about what you plan on doing rather then diving into something new! If you get a chance check out my journal.. Its my first real grow by myself lol.lol bad juju! Sup Buddy! thanks for stopping in! Ya, i would totally go with a MH if you get a chance, Even a small 250 watter. After seeing what it did for my plants, holy crap man! Glad i went with it hehe. Anyways, Thanks for sub'in and ya check back, update every week, I'll head on over and check yers out here in a sec too. Peace!Hey whats up Slojo! Ohh don't you worry i'll be here for all the updates!! And you have just sold me on the MH!! I'm going to go pick up one this weekend.. prolly just a 400 watt cause my veg box is really only for like 4-6 plants.. maybe 600 lol not sure yet, but i'll be getting it this weekend no doubt!Sup Buddy! thanks for stopping in! 4-6 plants in that 2x4x6.5 box, I think thats what you said yer box was. Havent finished reading all yer journal yet hehe. Ya i would go with 400, but 600 is better if you can afford it hehe. I found 600w to be so much more expensive and iono why. Some 600w are even more expensive than my 1000w, don't know whats up with that hehe. I have a buddy doing a DWC under a 250 MH, 4 plants at a time, his is doing REALLY well so far too. Plants just love them some blue spectrum go figure hehe.Ohh don't you worry i'll be here for all the updates!! And you have just sold me on the MH!! Metal halide bulbs are very efficient and produce a light that is close to full summer sun, with a spectrum rich in the blue end. This promotes fast vegetative growth and compact, stocky plants with short internodal leaf spacing.4-6 plants in that 2x4x6.5 box, I think thats what you said yer box was. Damn Pete thats an awesome explanation of the MH bulb!! I never knew that about the 600 watt light being the most lumens per watt being the highest! Is that with MH also?Metal halide bulbs are very efficient and produce a light that is close to full summer sun, with a spectrum rich in the blue end. This promotes fast vegetative growth and compact, stocky plants with short internodal leaf spacing.
MH bulbs come in sizes from 70-1500 watts with the 250w, 400w and the 1000w being the most popular sizes for gardening. Metal Halide bulbs (except the 1000w Super Bulb) should be replaced about every 18 months (assuming an 18 hour per day "on cycle). The 1000w super bulbs don't last as long as the others and should be replaced every 12 months.
A grower who uses MH alone for vegetative growth, then switches to HPS on the first day after initiating flowering (their first night), can expect the quickest and most pronounced bud set. This is because the sodium light closely mimics the spectrum of the late fall sun, indicating that fall is approaching. The plant thinks that winter is going to sneak up and kill it, so it freaks out and tries to complete its life cycle before the frost.
As for the cost difference in 600 & 1000's, 600w HPS bulbs have a 150 lumens per watt conversion whereas 1000w HPS have 140 lumens per watt. 600 watt bulbs are also considered to be the most efficient bulbs overall because they have the brightest bulbs measured in lumens-per-watt. Watt for watt, a 1000-watt HP sodium produces about 12 percent more light than a 400-watt HPS and about 25 percent more light than a 150-watt HPS. Scientists overcame this barrier when they developed the 600-watt HP sodium. Watt for watt, a 600-watt HPS produces seven percent more light than the 1000-watt HPS.
Thanks bro, Ya their next watering will be with some Big Bloom, I think they are gonna pwn! heheIf you're considering MH check out a ceramic MH. Wider light spectrum than MH or HPS and they're cheaper! I'm leaning towards one to use with my HPS during flower. Looking good. Those are gonna love some nutes, keep it up.
Ya, Pete is a heavy hitter hehe, he's helped explain a few things to me I still think yer full of poop! my 1000w is better than your 600w pete!!Damn Pete thats an awesome explanation of the MH bulb!! My 2x600w's PWN your 1000w, sir. You gonna hop on FB mayne? Thanks bro, Ya their next watering will be with some Big Bloom, I think they are gonna pwn! hehe

wow, looking great!! and you were so worried in the beginning. nice workHey guys, end of week 6 now and doing the update a little early today since I'm prolly gonna be zonked out by midnight hehe. This week kind of flew by. Have had a few issues, the light kept turning off on its own, had to get a new timer and a new power strip. Seems to have fixed it. At first i thought i had a ghost hehe. Anyways, also have had an issue with some old growth on one of mah babies! Yellowing leaves and brown spots all over em. But it seems to be doing fine. I'll start adding some Big Bloom this week and next week I'll start with the Grow Big and try and get these babies ready for flowering. Also jsut got a Soil PH meter, apparently i should have gotten one of those from the beggining lol. Anyways, here we go, end of week 6 all the plants are healthy and about 4-5 inches tall with BIG ole leaves! hehe:
