Hey guys, anyone done an led grow? My mate has bought two 45w red/blue boards, he reckons he's gonna grow six plants under them. Surely that won't be enough, I don't know anything about led's but he insists I will. Greatful for any info thanks.

lol

I would go with 2 plants or less with that kind of wattage, and that is if they truly run on 45w and are not misleading like most LED companies

personally it such a small light I would go with 1 and LST or SCROG it for maximum yield cause a 45w LED shouldn't have much penetration

Thanks for the info, ill let him know, he ain't gonna be happy!! Lol
Yeah if he wants to more than one, he needs one of these babies :P
A good ol 395w 8.7x more powerful than what he has, and that is about as high as you should go for LEDw in a a 2.5ft x 2.5ft space
I feel quite confident my LED could handle 5 decent sized plants in that space or maybe even a push with 9 plants. But I plan to try and switch to going SCROG which will take better advantage of the LED
PS: its full spectrum with 11 or 12 wavelengths, mostly for flowering (most LED will veg but not all will flower well) but there is blue and white for veg as well. Like they say, its better to go with HPS the whole grow because it will veg but flower great, rather than go all MH which will veg great but not flower as well. This LED should be about the same as growing with 500-600w of HPS

I have a 45 Glow panel, with LST and a few cfls it will work.
112 LEDs running on 45w of electricy means each LED is only running on max of .4w
You need a real grow light like mine where each LED runs on 1.5-2.5w
.4 ain't shit even if its a 1w LED when it should be at least a 2 or 3w
Plus the lights look like they have no reflecting lens which would mean the light is going everywhere when it should be concentrated at 60-120 degree angle so it could attempt to do some work

That is the kind of light that makes people think LED is crap compared to HID

If its an LED light and has no fans it isn't meant for grow plants because it doesn't use enough power to produce enough light to run hot enough to need them (maybe giving them just enough to keep from decaying)

In fact I've even read that .4w is just where LEDs start to be at all useful for growing, so basically you are getting a totally bare minimum/weak 45w LED. You would be much better off getting one of those round UFO LEDs that runs on 45-100w
