Supercropping and Canopy Control

Hi everyone, I've been participating on RIU for a short while and I have learned a wealth of information from other people's experiences. Its unbelievable how much awesome information is available and shared here by innovative cannabis enthusiasts. A person with basic knowledge and experience can learn a ton combining other people's experience and mistakes with their own. I am currently making changes to my garden that will most definitely increase both efficiency and quality thanks to the users of this forum. Thanks to everyone who participates!

Supercropping is a canopy control strategy that is very easy and highly effective throughout vegging. I was unable to find much information on supercropping here and thought I would share some supercropping pictures of my vegging plants for people that don't know what it is or don't use it. I usually supercrop all through vegging to control stretching plants and increase overall bushiness of the plant. It works as an excellent transition to LST just before flowering.

Here is a PPP a few days into flower, I transplanted at the same time due to time constraints so she is still recovering but looks like she's making the turn. I transitioned to tying the canopy down to the bucket rim with twist ties.

good info i do this to my flowering plants during the stretch in weeks 2-3 of flower. it evens out the canopy as well as make for nice thick stems which means nice chunky buds. good thread +rep.

Hey bkb, you're right about super cropping and over breaking. I LST throughout veg starting a few days after they are transferred from their clone stage. Being on top of your LST and topping as well as great nutrients is the way to grow big ladies and eventually not have to use stake and/or screens. Check out my pics and videos here's one, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOmxKZUqeXI , these are not as big and/or flat as they should be on top, but you can get the picture. I will eventually put up LST videos when I get a new camera. Here are some pics of ladies showing what it looks like under the canopy. Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions, happy tokin'! ps i don't LST during flowering or try to touch my plants, especially the tops after the third week. fyi: )

SWEET film!!! :clap::clap::clap:

If I may,,, If the stalk feels too firm and you're afraid it may snap....
Try early morning or before lights are on. More pliable then.
Also you can easily make the full bend to where you want it by going in stages (one lighter pinch/bend above the other), still at the same time or spread out (same time here).

Additiona $0.02? ;-):bigjoint:

Vid should be "stickied". Simple, sweet, spot-on, don't get no plainer. :clap:

Here is another successful Sup Crop and when I say successful I mean I didnt snap the tops off. This plant had 8 tops growing, it was top'd 3 times and I dropped one of my plants right on top of her. But she is strong and recovered quickly and has now been flowering for 4 days. Its Blueberry x Sour Diesel, 1st pic is before and 2nd pic is after Sup Crop....I like Sup Crop'n, my problem is snapping them too hard and completely off. I am still trying to find my way of doing it where I dont snap them off....LOL Hope you guys like it.

Canon I will try that next time in the morning before lights go on....thanks for your .02 hopefully i can turn it into a $1.00!!

Hi Canon, thanks for adding. I definitely train the branches in more that one spot, it helps to keep the canopy low and wide. Nice pointers for trying early in the morning too. Unfortunately I only have time to garden in the evenings but I would love to do some morning gardening. I like to use both hands when super cropp'n, especially on smaller branches. I like to support the side of the branch that is being bent to the inside angle. This allows me to actually control how much I am flexing the branch with a bit more precision. I find that Super crop'n the small branches with small movements introducing a flex to the branch 2 or 3 times before the final bend softens it up. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks for the compliments on the video everyone but I cannot take credit for producing it. I simply found it and pasted it within the thread for a demonstration.

BKB- Very nice! The middle should blow up with extra bud sites as well as the side growth.
