DO you really view teachers as glorified babysitter..If so I really feel I peg you wrong..Question did you teach yourself how to read and write..????or did your babysitter...or did your mother ????? do you understand Algebra????What about Chemistry...???? did you learn all this on your own??? or do you not know these things...hmmmmm should I even really continue...just say "you right" and I can move on....
Have a gander at U.S. test scores compared to the the rest of the industrialized world.

There is your answer.

Glorified (and over-compensated) babysitter. :-P

It's quite apparent you do not intend to move on under ANY circumstances.

According to the National Bureau of Economic Research state and local pensions are underfunded across the country by roughly $2Trillion. That's not total unfunded liabilities...that's the shortfall. Contracts!

Why do you think it is OK for a Union for government workers to be funding democrats with dues from the workers? All the workers aren't democrats.
Halliburton gave a tremendous amount of money to bush and cheney's election? Honestly lobbying should be completely illegal. It seems that the corporations have their fingers in everything.

Sure some of the workers are not democrats, but the union sure as Shit isn't getting help from the republicans, unions voice is the democratic party.

What more do you want? I already conceded that the AFL passed the resolution.

But the safety of the children was not the goal. It was removing the filthy little urchins out of the workplace to make room for more dues-paying thugs.

As far as my statement regarding public school teachers being "over-compensated babysitters" is concerned; look at the assessments. The results speak for themselves.

I have already moved on. I don't require your agreement.

Lobbying is wrong altogether when it involves paying for a position. We have the right to assemble and have our positions known, but paying a politician millions and millions for his support? I don't support it for companies, and I don't support it for unions.

I knew how to read before I went to school. I agree with you that a teacher is absolutely needed to teach you the basics in one form or another. Your parent's should teach you to read and write on some level before you go to school. Anyone who doesn't teach their children to read and write before they go to school obviously isn't interested in their child being able to function in society or in life.

When did you go to school? Our teachers gave us busy work like pages of long subtraction when they didn't feel like teaching. They had us watch movies like Braveheart in history class, which as great of a movie as it is, is about as historically accurate as the movie Caveman. I regularly got in trouble for reading during the movies/long subtraction days. I did have a AP classes where I got to choose my own studies, and I enjoyed them, mostly because I was left alone. College was better, and I tested out of many classes without having to attend them. However, in large part, I can learn more reading the text book in 1 day than I can in weeks of a class unless it is a very hands on sort of thing.

Teachers do more than babysit, but they are still babysitting as a primary function of their job, rather than teaching.

Sorry you had teachers that just wanted to leave you alone ( hmmmm I wonder why), but my teachers and other teachers I know were/are great ( especially my mother, grandmother, sister, one of my brothers,3 aunts, and I think a cousin or two)...They taught or at least tried to teach us....I have very fond memories of most of my teachers and what influence they had on my life...I went to a public school...my kids go to private school until the 7th grade then they make the choice after 10th grade they go to public school no matter what...I have had only one of my child's teacher that I did not like and she was quickly removed from her class...I don't send nor pay for my kids to go to school not to learn or practice and improve on what they have learned already...when they go to school they are to learn something everyday...I even tell them this "if you don't go to school and learn something that day ...then that was a wasted day" We don't waste days in our household..hmmmm makes me wonder how some of you parents raise your kids....and then we wonder why some are so disrespectful

Corporations have the same rights as citizens so they are allowed the right to give as much money as they see fit to what party they stand for, of course its the republicans... like puppets pushing their agendas.

Then you should know they re-wrote the book on inventory management. They were 10 years ahead of their competition. I'm going to have to go back a few pages and see what this has to do with unions....
they didn't re-write anything, they were the first to put all that shit up online, using the internet to integrate business systems...

they'll even sell your shit at a loss.... last very public example was amazon and walmart going at it selling Sarah Palin's book. anybody remember that?? selling the book for 8.99?? when the cover price at independent bookstores was 28.99???

You may find the website below useful in future debates. I believe the site will show Democrats receive substantial Corporate donations as well as Republicans...my advice trust neither. Good luck.

You don't get to count your family as the teachers. Those people have a vested influence in your life, your school teachers do not. Even if they are actual teachers on the job, when they get home they are your family. If you died the next day it might bother a school teacher a little, but they aren't your family. You just say you don't send your kids to public school - why? Is it because public schools aren't as good as private schools because they spend all day babysitting?

Palin gets 15% revenue for her book. I could be wrong, but whether it sells for $9 or $29 Palin gets 15%. They gave Palin a 7 million dollar advance for the book(this means they already payed for her % more or less) Im sure if Wal-Mart/Amazon bought truckloads of the book then they worked on the price with them.

If you sell someone a gram you might charge them 15-20 for it, if sell them an ounce or a pound they might only pay 5-10 a gram. They sell one of Ron Pauls books for $1 at the dollar tree here in town, Im sure they just went up and said "Hey, would you like to print us 100,000 copies of your book for 50 cent a piece" Either that or they just had extra ones laying around lol.

sarah palin gets 15% of 29.99. i'm telling you the book was being sold at 18 dollars to major retailers.

walmart and amazon just got into a HUGE 'penis-war' over who sold more of sarah's book.... both of them just absorbing the losses, probably used accounting gimmicks to allocate that loss somewhere, they're getting enough tax-breaks to cover that type of bullshit you know.....

that's not competition..... that's not how the 'free-market' is supposed to work......

I tried to find out for sure, and I could not find it. Do you have a copy of her contract? It is accepted that she got 15%, but every contract is different. Some are for list price, and some are for actual sales, some are for other things.
