How tall do mother plants get?

Hello. I am going to be starting my first grow soon. I'm wondering how tall mother plants get so I know how big to make my veg box. Thanks.

As you take clones the mothers get thinned out. Coupled with a training method such as LST, they can stay pretty short.......for awhile.

So how do you stop them from growing? People can keep mother plants for years and if they never stopped growing they wouldn't be able to fit in their grow rooms.
beyond thinning them out by cutting clones off them, if she gets bigger than you can deal with you can just top her like a tree. IME if you leave 1/3 of the original plant she'll keep growing for you.
once they're well-established, every so often you can take them out of their pots and trim the roots up and re-transplant. this will restore vigour and control your pot size.
one thing to keep in mind is that the more you cut clones, the more she's going to bush outwards (as opposed to upwards).

What mello said! your starting pot size is key. I have a SLH mother in a 2 gallon pot that is 28 inches tall and produce 10-15 cutting every other week if I pushed her I dont need anywhere near that many but I take 7-8 just to keep the size down...

The plant (mom) in my avatar picture is about 16 weeks old or so and just a few inches high. You can keep them supper short and small if that is what you need to do.
Here's the same plant today, after having just pruned her down again:
[My hand is in the picture to show some scale for you - she's kind of messy because I'm doing some experimentation with her.]
