Earthjuice catalist and low PH

Hello:

I opened a bottle of earthjuice catalist and started to mix a dose into a 5 gallon pail. The PH went from 7.6 tap water to 4.2. Now this is my first time useing the earthjuice stuff. Everyone seems to love the stuff but is this normal? I was gonna think that it has to be old or spoiled?

Any help is encouraged :weed:

I'm not familiar with using Earth Juice but any fertilizer or additive has a PH value that can change the PH of your water . Mabey thats why Earth juice sells there own PH up and down . I'm sure someone will chime in that knows the Out of the bottle PH values .

I think they sell ph up and down because they claim it wont kill the microbes like others will. The ph of the catalist is after mixing it in my 5 gallon bucket. I went by the what was on the bottle and the resulting ph went from 7.5 to 4. something. Is 6this ok or is it old spoiled stuff?

That's about right for EJ. Bubble it overnight and retest, then add PH up slowly, and bubble for a couple more hours and retest.

EJ is known for needing bubbling to get the pH in line, but once you get things tuned in it's an awesome nutrient line. I use a few of their products (microblast, pH up/down), and I've been giving Catalyst a look lately, good luck with it.

Catalyst is not a nutrient by itself, but rather what kicks the rest of the EJ line into gear. It is basically molasses, but with more oomph. I either use it 1/2&1/2 with molasses, or alternate it with molasses. It's not expensive, but not as cheap as molasses.

For best results, EJ should be bubbled for at least 24 hrs, if not longer. I found that 2 days+ of bubbling brings the pH up to just right. Depends on your particular tap water.

Bubbling with the catalyst gets the beneficial bacteria going in whatever other EJ product is in there and brings it out to its full potential.

Good stuff, but it has a bit of a learning curve as with any organics.

Yep, I usually adjust to about 5.5 after 24 hours and it's at 6 by the next day. Then I just keep a 30 gal res going with solution adding a little when needed.

I can confirm everything said thus far about bubbling and pH with earth juice. I always prepare my solutions at least a full 24 hours ahead of time and let it bubble away. I will usually leave out the grow solution, however, until the few minutes before an actual feeding, as ive noticed the stuff can cause quite a lot of organic matter build-up in the res. even after only 24hrs. I do supplement EJ with silica blast from botanicare (technically not organic, but silica IS an organic material, so I figure im still ok) and during flower I add molasses as well and bat guano. Ive had some pretty crazy-awesome results with this lineup. My res is also a 30 gallon, and I wind up keeping it going each time for approximately 2-3 weeks. The pH tends to fluctuate early on, but levels off after the first few days and is much more predictable then.

Do you use pH adjusters in your bubbling EJ mix? I've bubbled before and it didn't seem to change pH more than half a point but I've been giving it to my plants for awhile now and they don't seem to have suffered from low pH yet.

EJ is not made for hydro ,it is mainly for soil.All EJ products drop the ph bad,thats why they sell ph up and down.You have to check the ph on every EJ product before you feed...

I heard somewhere once that EJ products are low pH to help preserve them, and I read in lots of place to bubble it for 24-48 hours to help raise pH and that is supposed to fix it. But I'm not sure it fixed it for me, although I used that color drip pH test. I am also reading more about people not pH adjusting organic nutes, only bubbling, and their plants with good micro life regulating the pH of the soil all on their own.

I haven't pH adjusted my EJ feedings in 2-3 weeks and my plants don't seem to mind
