DR80, 400w HPS, Snow White & More!

subbed ~ I grow in a tent as well and I'm very excited to see you got 9 plants crammed in there! I plan to flower 8 plants each in their own bubblebucket in the DR120. How long did they veg for? and I can't wait to see what you get dry weight.
 
Hey H. got a request...your set up looks SA-WEET, and as a noob (Oh No!! Not One of Those!!) I wondered if I could ask you to list everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) in your entire set up to include all major categories like: lights, filters, ventilation, nutes, fans, soil, meters, seeds, etc. So far your set up is the closest to what I have in mind and I'm afraid I'm probably not catching everything by lookin at your awesome pix. I know you provided some of this info, but I hoped to see a comprehensive list in one place. Thanks in advance!!
 
Ok here we go:
Tent: Darkroom 80
Light: 400w Sylvania Bulb with digital ballast and basic euro reflector (added a 200w 2700k CFL in there just cos I had it).
Fan/Filter: TT125 Fan with 127mm ducting and a 125/300 can filter (filter works 100%). Also a small oscillating fan is a must.
Pots: I used 10L standard round pots, you can fit 9 into the tent but I wouldnt recommend it, 6 is a better number...Im gonna be using 10L Airpots next round.
Nutes/Soil: So far Iv been using Biobizz AllMix soil (I will always use that soil) and Biobizz Grow and Bloom but Im gonna change to Canna Terra for the next round.
Heater: I had problems with low nighttime temperatures, so I bought a 2ft Tube Heater, it works ok considering you just plug it on and forget about it!
Get a digital min/max thermometer/hygrometer aswell, and your done!

Dont think I forgot anything there. I might get a second 400w HPS instead of the CFL aswell, my temps I think can take it :)

EDIT: As for seeds actually, dont take anyones advice on a specific strain, let people point you to a seed bank (http://www.nirvanashop.com are an excellent example) and you pick a strain that suits YOU, your taking the risk so at least grow something you want to smoke. :)

I actually only have 5 left, some of them were male,etc. I vegged for 5 weeks before flowering, but as usual had some problems with low temps, etc. Ill eventually get a perfect grow!

Cos its still a bit cold out Im gonna start some Autos (20/4 light cycle is easier to keep them warm with) and start vegging some Hollands Hope/AK48 (might go with AK purely for short flowering period) to put out in the wilds for an outdoor grow. I want beasties outdoor this year, so gonna veg them for a month then put them outside, give them a headstart.

Ok...one more question....on average about how much did your electric bill go up (from before you had a grow to now w/this set up)? Don't know where you're located, but if you know in U.S. $ that would rock. I just can't grasp what folks mean by "a lot." are we talking like $500/month more or like $100? Thanks again.
 
I saw or read this somewhere here on RIU.

Example: 400 watt light on 18hrs a day
400 watt / 1kwh = .4kwh
.4kwh * 18hrs = 7.2kwh
7.2kwh * 30.5days = 219.6kwh per month
My area electric charges $0.10 per kwh ........ So, to run a 400 watt light 18 hrs a day for a month would be:
219.6kwh * $0.10 = $21.96 per month

Yeah man, if thats what they charge then thats what you'll pay, Id give some swingroom on exact wattage figures, I always assume a 400w HPS is using 500w just to make sure my estimates are always over.
 
Well Im stumped as to where my camera is...Ill borrow one to take pictures over the next few days if necessary, lots and lots of growth happening...doesnt even look like the same garden!
 
Thinking about taking them down this Wednesday, it'd be 8-9 weeks flowering and its an 8-10 week strain, we'll see how much they've bulked up by then. The buds arnt huge but they're ROCK solid and theres alot of them. Id say Id have yielded alot more if they'd had a better life, those cold temps really knocked them back alot.

Have AK48 seeds on the way for the next run, its warmed up dramatically so I finally get to do a run of them :)

EDIT: Pic 6 has the polyploid bud in it btw.

Im in the same situation. Cutting mine soon. If i remember we started at the same time? Anyways looking superb my man!
 
The buds are TINY compared to what Im used to growing tho, Iv grown Easyryders with huge donkey dicks and these are too small from (I assume) just the brutal cold. Next run is gonna be 100% tho, and after that run Im gonna look into going perpetual with a seperate veg tent.
 
im in the same boat as you fella, im gonna be using my veg room for a scrog grow and i have a good few in flower so i need another tent. all i need to do is convince the missus we dont need a bed in the spare room. no easy task at all. plenty of as kissing in order.lol!

Just a few little pics, just found the camera, bit late since its mostly harvested and half of all thats ready given away to a "partner". Will take pics of the stash later, theres only a little bit of the hash left as you can see, very sad about that, it is REALLY good :)
