Right on man. Ya im hoping my sativa is atleast a little dense. It sure seems potent enough to me haha. Damn man 3 oz is still pretty good. you better be growing some 1 pound monsters this year! hahaha. Get them going early on. Is there a way you could let them grow into the ground or get like a large pot that doesn't have a bottom to it if you know what i mean.

Because of the warmer temperatures around here and the partial harvest of the one plant I took out a 42 watt bulb. Currently running (3) 55 Watt CFL 2700 and (1) 26 Watt CFL 6500. 191 Watts total. Temps 82*

Haze (sativa)
so the haze now smells like diesel. Its almost like the smell of new shoes mixed in with rubber.
last watering I started the 2 week flush off with a simple gallon of water. next watering she will be getting molasses.
most of the pistils you can barely see green, just a coating of triches all very milky so im watching for amber but no microscope or lense.

Purple Diesel
last watering it received molasses. will be watering later today with flowering nutes at full strength.
everytime the hairs on the pistil dies (from age or w/ever) the pistil itself will turn purple so its a really interesting plant to watch flower.

Indica, Piney
last watering it got a 3 gallon flush of water and is still decently soaked from that, soil is draining decently well though. The plant isn't consuming very much water anymore.
The plant is still putting out plenty of new pistils, especially since i chopped the main cola. Im just chopping the rest this Friday regardless because the triches are milky and almost all leaves are dead and buds seemed to fatten up a lot.

Sorry I dont have pics, just worked all day and didn't feel like it and tomorrow will be 1 week since last pics so a good gap.

nvm work all of tomorrow too, i guess tuesday is my next day i'll probably be in the mood to upload.

Makes me hopeful for a good yield for my first grow. Had some issues and so many doubting farmers with the cfls that I was starting to doubt my investment. Lol not gonna stress now. +rep

Ya man next grow im going to get more blue spectrum bulbs for better potency, if i can get those marine spectrum bulbs that would be amazing for veg and trich production, eventually going to get an LED for summer and a 400w CMH for winter but thats all in the future. Im all about potency and not as much about yield. CFLs can produce some buds, they just dont stay fat for very long so its good to get as much surface area as you can for your plants (Scrog, LST, HST, etc.) thanks for stopping by, ill stop by your place in a bit.

Bad news Anyways guys this morning I checked on my plants and i guess yesterday at 8:30 am and was in a hurry and I guess I put the sativa too close to the 26w 6500 light and the biggest lower nug was straight up resting against the bulb and burnt it to shit. I chopped off the branch cause the plants getting near done anyways. Trimmed it up and removed all the dead burnt areas. Id say about half of the side of a nug got burnt. Its just dried out not really burnt so its almost like already dried bud, and I put it in my drying box and is probably entirely smokeable. I'll be more careful next time, sucks but I guess it could have been worse. The nug is fairly big, Id say atleast 2.5 grams dry so it should last me nearly a week so I shouldn't have issues waiting to chop my plants at the correct time haha.

So guys I got a picture update for you guys, a lot came out blurry so I chose the best, Im going to just set the camera on something next time, doesn't take much to make it blurry when zoomed it.

Indica: the arrows is pointing at a huge clump of pistils, and it keeps budding more and more each day so I might let it keep going past Friday.

Sativa: Its pretty much slowing down and just getting more potent, drinking a lot, getting molasses in the next hour or so. Put in a ruler for size comparison, I think rulers are 1 inch wide also.

Purp: Its had a tough life, so its basically trying to catch up all in the same week or so haha.

anyways I'm not sure cause since i chopped the main cola i think hormones or something are forcing out more pistils on the buds below but probably not much longer than next monday if even that long. you guys recommend like a 72 hour or 36 hour darkness before harvest? or is it not really worth it.

ya the sativa just got molasses about 10 minutes ago, she's in a pot thats like 3/4th of a gallon or so (isn't marked on the pot) and she absorbed an entire quart without anything draining out, she was thirsty. I'm wondering how much it will end up fattening up (if any).

there are a few reasons I keep the plant in the dark:
1. because i have been told by a few growers with 20+ years under their belt that it makes the plant produce more thc. (not a very good reason)
2. because there is a documented study from a university that doing this could make the plant produce 20% more thc. (a pretty good reason)
3. lights degrade thc and the dark makes it grow thc. i harvest at night and my lights also go out at night so i like to leave it in the dark at least 24 hours just so i am harvesting in the dark period not the end of the light period. some will also tell you that you should harvest in the dark because it only takes a few minutes for the plant to send all it's sugars and starches to the buds requiring a longer cure. (a common sense reason)
4. and the main reason i isolate the plant in the dark is so I have room to put another plant in the flower box a few days early! (my favorite reason)

they spend all night long producing more thc to build a new shield of protection from the up coming light. this is another reason your plants have the most dank smell about an hour before the lights go on. there was a user on RIU named bricktop, he swears by this method.

Good find man. I'll definitely be giving my plants some dark period, just got to find a good place to do it, I can probably do it in my drying box, I think they should fit. Does the THC stabalize after its harvested/dried/cured? or does light always effect THC.

The light will always degrade the THC no matter how old the bud is. It is good practice to keep your storage jars in a dark cool place.

Epic. I hope I can use big boy bulbs soon too. trying to sort logistics and also see how the cfl goes first. I just picked up to 23w UVB rated 10 bulbs today! $50 here but at least they should help. Maybe I'll get a tan too lol. I'm of the mind that as long as it's powerful smoke I can handle some airy buds on the ones that stretched a bit more than I would like.

Lol I'm gonna remember that , less burn more grow. Nugz sans scorching. Lol bloody sativas seem to be "fix and raise daily " for lights or else. Lol next go I'm doing a couple indicas next time.

haha it sucked cause i checked on my plants real quick before I was off to work. I worked all day and was extremely tired and slept real late today and found out my plant had a light against it for about 28 hours. It wasn't anything to do with the strain or hardware failure, I just put the plant too close to the light like an idiot which is in the middle of the 3 plants.

oh and thanks for the compliments homer, Oh you have yet to see the actual damage, the bud is drying right now, we'll see how bad it looks in a few days when thats done.

Also if you wanted to harvest in the dark I guess you could get a green light bulb and do it under that, may not effect THC.


Idk if any of you guys watch Formula1 but my favorite driver Robert Kubica is out for the season from a rally crash, kinda sucks cause he finally was going to have a competitive car this year. I also like McLaren so we will see how this season goes.

when the bud cure it breaks the starches down into sugars or vise versa... i can't remember which it is right now. when the plat gets light it sends the starches up to the bud within minutes. causing the cure to take longer. so if you snip the buds off in the dark then trim them in the light where you can see it should make the buds require a shorter cure.

I tried it a few times using a green light but i didn't notice any difference at all. personally I don't believe it but I believe it was the user aeviaanah that posted this info.
