Is it bad to start an autoflower plant in 16 oz cups ?

Ive heard that autos will stay really small if you dont put them directly into good size containers is this true ?

I would recommend that you start them in the containers in which they will flower in.

With autos, you have a limited time-frame, so the trick is to not hamper its growth/flower in any way.

I start all my plants in 16 oz. containers. They will be fine, I've finished autos in 32 oz. to two gallon containers before. Starting with a smaller container is better because you have more control over the moisture of the soil with your babies, you dont want your young seedling to be soaking wet the whole time. If your gonna start with a smaller container then go for the tallest one you can.

Right on thanks got both sides of the spectrum but i would think also builing a nice little root ball in the 16 oz cups then go into big would work out nicely. Anyone who apposes let me know.

Seedlings dont need large containers until they get ample root growth, so start in your 16 ounce containers. then transplant at two weeks old when your ample root growth needs a large container.

nice those speed devils look insane Im just gonna put the seedling in a big gulp biggest one they have for the initial seedling stage then 3 gallon pots for the remainder. Thanks for the input.

No problem!

Im not saying that they can't be transplanted WillyPhister, of course they can, but with a plant that has a very small veg window and that is key to its end product it is best to put autos where they will finish first! And yes transplanting and root lock slow this process down.

if you do start with a smaller container make sure u transplant them when they are 2 weeks old because they will be flowering shortly after depending on strain and u dont wanna cause any strees during flowering especially transplant shock. hope this helps
