Veg / Clone question

I wanted to take cuttings from my plants in veg but I was told I shouldn't take the cuttings unless I was ready to throw them into bloom. Is this correct? or can I take cuttings and leave them in veg for another couple weeks?

Yes of course you can veg them. Youll need to root the cuttings in the Veg state, then its totally your choice when to flower them. Grow them to whatever size suits your grow room.

Your mate was talking about growing SOG style, where often hundreds of newly rooted clones are packed tight together and flowered immediately after rooting with no veg time. This creates a huge even canopy of top colas (giving the optimum effeciency in your lighting and space etc for maximum yeild) But growing like this is going to be a hell of alot of work. Also if you get caught growing in this way I would imagine it's going to be harder to justify as being for personal use. This is pretty much the method that commercial growers use but it can be scaled down, but it's hard work.

^ Yep

You can also cut clones from a plant that is flowering but it can take up to 4-6 weeks to revert back to the vegetative stage and in my experience doing this you have a leafier genetic copy of the mother plant.

or should i wait until the day before i put them into bloom to cut clones
No need for that. I would wait until you see those clones root if I were you. Because it will be too late to take more if they die once you start flowering the mothers. I am about to do this myself and will wait to see roots before the mothers get flipped 12/12.

Just makesure to take clones during veg stage, and get them rooted in well before doing anything else with them. Nothing else matters you are mearly making a genetic copy of the plant you take a clone from.
