Did I Cheat?

I've been fuming over this.

Last Thursday I joined an association named after an animal, i.e., Eagles, Moose, Elk... During that night they hit me up for all the drawings and other things. I paid for them all, I went through $160 that night. I got 3 tickets for the drawing for a flat screen. I filled them out and just like my mom before me I filled them out and then folded them, then flattened them out and gave them back to the person incharge of the drawing.

I won a flat screen Saturday night from one of the above, but didn't get the call until yesterday. I went to pick it up and saw a gentleman I thought was the man I was looking for. I was wrong. I explained what was going on.

At this point he proceeds to tell me that I'm a cheat (not in a quiet voice so others could hear and I know no one there) That by folding the ticket I gave myself an unfair advantage. That tickets are meant to be flat and that I cheated everyone who entered the drawing and I should be ashamed of myself.

I just stood there with me mouth open and told him he was entitled to his opinion. He said, yes-he was entitled to his opinion and his opinion was that I was a cheat.

I have to tell you it felt just like I was back in school getting picked on and bullied.

FYI- My mother folded her tickets because her mother did. I fold my tickets because my mother did. I miss her dearly.

Question- Did I cheat? I didn't think I was, but...

I know what club you are on about, very similiar to another club that goes back in time a lot longer(bout the time of the crusades) and i know what kind of ppl you are talking about, they are probably more pissed off that you won as a new member as they would have like the items to probably go to a longer serving "member", "clubs" like these are very reluctant to accept change, hence the keeping of rituals for various matters pertaining to your "club"

Yea..remind me to not join that club. Where in the "rule book" does it say, "Thou shall not fold or cause crease to ticket!" -- that's just silly, be happy you won, and don't let some old timer bring you down. F him.

Also to go along with our cussin out the dude for you lol. When they pulled the ticket, if it was against the rules, you think they would have just said oh well? nah, yer totally in the clear

In the old days, that was a challenge to a duel when a man questions your honor and trust. You did not cheat. If it was against the rules, then the person accepting your tickets should not have. That old coot probly paid $500 in tickets... And don't feel bad about going in on social night and enjoy the hell out of those $2 Budweisers!

LOL, last night was $1.50 beer night, the place was packed. I didn't fit in I didn't have grey hair. But, I did enjoy the beer.

My Dad and I joined just for the bene's, like the bar. It's $1.50 here too, but after a tip, it's $2.00 a can.... They need new blood and will soon ask you to recruit.... when you and your buddies can meet and enjoy cheap drinks, the annual is worth it. If you are willing to give up possessions when you are old and ready for a home, they'll give you a nice place to call home for the final years, free of charge to members in good standing.

I give money to many organizations through their fees, raffles, etc. I always fold or manipulate my tickets.

I have always kidded about how I am going to win the big one, but I don't think the folding has any effect on the outcome.

I win a lot because I always buy tickets, like $20 or so. One year people were getting upset that one person kept winning. Well if you are willing to donate a couple of hundred dollars to the raffle, guess what, your kids keep coming up winners (and so does the club)

Go to the president of the club and tell him either he repremends that old coot or you want your
membership money back and your name removed from the roll call at the next meeting.
Then tell him your telling everyone of your younger friends that this club has no RESPECT for their new
younger members.
Then set back and watch. If they don't do the right thing screw them, who wants to belong to a club like that???

I don't want to snitch on the guy. I'd like to get things straightened out, but, I haven't felt that embarrassed in a long, long time.

Just the day before my brother volunteered to wash all their windows for free and today is the day he is going to wash them. I think I'll tagalong. Thanks for the idea about talking to management
