I hear it takes longer to dry and since this is for my MM use I am not worried about a few leaves on my buds
I want to hang the bush upside down and trim later

yeah, i think its about the same if you wait until its all dry. I leave everythign on until i am done curing also, thi sway every time i shake the bag or jar, all the trichomes are protected. Plus the plant drys much much slower. Once its all done i trim the leaves away usually with my fingers becaue the leaves just break off easily, and my trichomes are in tact.

I learnt my lesson about drying before trimming, even for just a couple of days. When the plant is fresh and just chopped, fan leaves can just be "popped" off with a thumb, once they've dried and died a bit, they become a right pain in the arse, they come off altight, but they pull off a lovely strong fiber which rips down the stem and if you're not careful, slices big buds straight off the stem. Utter PITA if you ask me! Also means you can trim to the actual stalk easily, they just snap off leaving big bits of stem in the bud.

Thats the worst thing about growing bud.Fuckin trimming sux ass.I wouldnt wait man,suck it up and knock it out.Its just harder if ya wait.

Do you mean you are going to hang the whole plant. If so I have read in quite a few places about the benefits of it. They state that the buds have better ability to continue to process sugars by feeding from the whole plant. I am thinking about trying it this year. The only drawback is the trimming gets quite difficult. I did read one place where somebody said they just wait for the trim to become dry and then rub them off. Seems that would be overdry????

I tried to do it that way once on advisement from someone else.Moisture was so uneven.Dry as a bone in some spots and wet as shit in others.Ya need an even drying.If you look at some of the grows that are going on in the journals here youll see hundreds of plants.Imagine all the hard work trimming them.I have considered quiting growing before just because all of the trim work but I always take my cuttings and always grow again.Too much work to end up with buds that look like high grade swag rather than grade A Dro.

I've done it both ways. My first outdoor grow, I read somewhere about the benefits of drying the plant whole, then after that initial dry, trim THEN put into jars to begin cure.
Lately with my indoor grows, I've been trimming straight at chop then hanging for initial dry.
Trimming is definitely easier when done at harvest though.
I'm thinking of doing a mixture though. By that I mean just cutting out the major fan leaves at harvest, then a final trim after the initial dry.

I defoliate at week 4 and again at week 7 (at least I have on a few plants, as an experiment). I am liking the fact that I've decreased my trim time in the end tho! One week to go and all fan leaves are gone from two plants, they are outproducing the others.
But I love looking at them, knowing I only have a bit of trim time to invest in each one, instead of an hour.

Agreed, but impractical for larger crops. If it's my choice, which it ain't always, I'd cut it down, "big leaf" it (pull the biggest fans) and then hang the whole plant. Takes longer than wet-trim-and-quick-dry, but high quality has its price. Which in this case is doing absolutely nothing for a few days more, which should not be difficult or expensive.

I have also heard numerous benefits to hanging your plants including: fast room cleanup/transition while they dry for a few days.....extra sugar leaves also protect floral clusters from being damaged and drying these sugar leaves for a few days makes them more managable come time for bubble hash! I personally chop em down one by one, pull all big fan leavrs off and hang em for a few days with remaining sugar leaves intact. This gives me time to do a super fast transition and break my trimming sessions into 2 stretches< instead on 1 big stretch. My harvest day is generally as follows: cup of coffee...chop and hang...lunch...clean room/ transfer new already vegged and ready girls into flower room...dinner...flip the lights... I let them hang for a few days depending on temps/humidity, then get to choppin. It is def. a pain in the ass chopping at withered plant material but this faster transition makes it worth it. I have also spoken with many a growers who claim keeping the sugar leaves intact through the drying process increases terpine(essential oils) output....But its all one growers opinion with anothers and anothers

Good luck on hanging your plant with out trimming its nothing but a PAIN in the ass, i talked to some experienced growers and its a myth hang your plant and all the sugars/fluids will run into the plant thus giving you better results weight etc. its all bs peeps
once you ready to harvest i say cut trim and screen it
doin the hanging method and i tryed it omg what a fckin gong show that is you dont get a good trimmed bud final result you will gain more shake in your bag thus turning off people also i might add that you buds will have more of a brownish look end result it SUCKS nothing like fine trimmed buds
