Hey first time grower. Picked up two clones from the club about two months ago. The shorter one is purple kush the taller is gdp. my question are my stems thick enough to support flowering? How am i doing? The gran daddy plant is near 15 inches the purple kush is around ten. can I flower soon?

They look healthy, is there a fan in that room? It would help with the plant strength to give them some wind. The foliage and all around appearance looks lush to me, I would say you are doing great.

They will get much larger upon flowering, so you could certainly go ahead with that... maybe some more intense light as well if you are looking for a heavy yield.

And what kind of soil are you going with?

Alright thanks for the input so far! I don't have a fan in the room, but im thinking about picking one up today.
To answer both your other questions im just using one cfl light at the moment i checked the specs it said 23w but i remember the package saying 100 for some reason. For my soild im using MiracleGrro potting mix.

fans fans and more fans bro i cant believe they look so good without having them moving with a gentle breeeze 1 of the most important things you should have in your grow op 1 for moving air around 2 for stronger plants 3 healthy inviroment for your plants to live in imagine the humidity in your op and you putting a fan in there helps a great deal

Alright so just keep on buying miracle grow (preferably their organic products), and don't buy monsanto soil products? I've been on that path so far so i'll keep it up then i guess. I had a second cfl on it but it went out because it was older. I am going to put another light on it once i switch it over to 12/12.

I will get a fan on them for sure. Any suggestions on that? I have read it needs to oscillate one every 3 to five minutes...As i am not going to be home with my plants 24/7 how do i achieve this?

Also I know most things are case by case, but how much should typically you expect stems to thicken during the flowering process? I am thinking of beginning to flower within a week or a week and half, and the only thing that im paranoid about is my stems not being able to support the new weight.

bro tell us wot you have in your set up ?
bear min you should have:
lighting either cfl hps mh
extraction fan
carbon scrubber but not needed if you are nt worried about smell
fans
measuring equipment for nutes, addatives and health promoters
humidity and tempreture reader but not needed if your certain humidity and heat is nt gonna be a problem
a heater if things do get below a certain degree
and a light proof area to throw the bitches into flower

Well Ive just got the one 23w cfl on them. Getting a fan today. Not too worried about the smell so no carbon scrubber. I have not given my plants any nutrients excepts whatever was in their soil. humidity isnt going to be a problem. They are in an empty closet so i can basically throw them into 12/12 whenever.
I have just been giving them maybe 1.5oz-3oz of water every couple of days and spraying them with a spray bottle.

I have also read that slight bending of the stems back n forth to make them a little more rubbery will strengthen the plant by teaching it needs more strength. Can anybody shed any light on this?

Of course it works! Its like jacking off. Its bets bigger and longer the more you rub it!

Well the planters are on a ledge thats a good four feet off the ground so eventually they can be put lower and the light raised higher. I got a fan on them as stated before, so moving on from that...The stems seems way way thicker after about a week. Is flowering now seemingly a good idea?

Yep...looks to me like they're ready for flowering anytime, but as bulla pointed out, do check your headroom, since they may end up stretching for quite a while after you switch to 12/12. It's not unheard of to see a doubling of height during the first 2-3 weeks of 12/12 (depending on the strain, and how big of a pot you're using). If you've got room for it, LST can be done during the first few weeks of 12/12 without much stress on the plant. Topping may require a week or so of extra veg time to recover (or not, not really sure...if I'm gonna top 'em, I usually do it earlier in veg). Plant looks good, though...nice work, keep it up

Thanks man! Thats exactly what I was looking for! Im not 100% sure about my pot size but im pretty sure its 3 gal or maybe a lil more or less. They are 12 inches around and 11 inches high. I don't think topping is going to be a necessity. Ive had the fan on 24 hours a day for about a week or so and the stems are much much thicker so i dont know if im going to need LST.
