Curing your Bud with a "Cheap" Hygrometer

so i stumbled upon a thread earlier about using a hygrometer in each of your jars to cure your bud with out guessing your humidity.

well i started this thread cause i was looking for a hygrometer for a while, online offline everywhere, ki couldnt find a small one for cheaps, well what do you know, walmarts the place. so for you american folk on here, your local walmart carries tiny little hygrometers for $2.68 each. this is what they look like.

im flushing my plants now, and i plan to use this method to cure my bud, i've never had a good succesful cure. then again this is my first grow worth talking about. and even then- they bolted 5 weeks into flower and havent recovered yet, pulling them early at 9 weeks and starting round 2.

*the cure*
i beleive they way it goes is you dry your bud for 2-4 days, till the outside is just barely crispy, stuff them in some jars and check for a relative humidity of 70%. if after a few hours the RH is higher than 70%, open the jars and let them dry a little longer. slowley burps the jars over the course of several days, opening the jars every day, twice a day for only a few minutes. i think the original poster of this method said to drop the RH by 5% a week until you reach 55% which is optimal for long term storage. make sure you keep and eye out for mold.

hopefully the OP will come onto this thread and elaborate on this method. this seems pretty fool proof to me so imma give it a go.

i have used this method, though it's a different hygrometer that has been used
cheaper hygrometers seem to have a more finicky reputation for how well they work
but i'd say it should be better than with no hygrometer, just watch the bud carefully

That answers his simple question very well. He should read all three/four stickies to get this simple answer?
The stickies are all you need to know. Also I was referring to the schedule for opening the jars that he was talking about. I took that as a question as well. I personally do not use the hygrometer in the jar I just use the hygrometer every 12 hours when I open the jars and again several hours later when placing the lid back on. I was also really high and still up there. My .02 cents is analog hygrometers are fine, of course digital instruments are more accurate but I believe they will get the job done.

Honestly, I think you should read the full thread on IC, as it answers every question you have and introduces other concepts, as well. The breakdown on its first page is the condensed version, and if you follow the simple instructions your product will cure well.

As for the Sunbeam hygrometer, interestingly enough I tested it. There's a reason why I only recommend Caliber IIIs in the thread. A Hydroset II is also recommended after calibration. The el-cheapo ebay hygrometers are only recommended when used with a calibrated unit as a gauge. I do not recommend any analog hygrometers. Good luck.
