Roots Organic Formula 707

I'm currently using this formula 707 on my Strawberry Haze(pic 1) and Bubba Kush(pic 2) and they have loved it from day not to hot or anything. I'm just wondering if, only feeding with the BMO line of nutrients will be enough to get my girl by, or do I need to amend the soil some before I transplant to a 5-7 gal. pot.
I know its pretty light on N-P-K but its got soo many goodies in the soil already I'm not sure what it need's. Seeing as this is only my second grow I'm really cautious to just start adding guano and dolomite lime and things of that nature. I'm open to any idea's.

I would suggest understanding what each gives to the plant and the soil. I also start light and build up. That way you will understand what the plants need.

I have been using this soil for some time now, and find it, an amazing and safe soil for mmj. I add (per 4gal. cont.) 1/2 cup lime, 1 cup earthworm castings, 1 gal. perlite, 1 cup bone meal, 1 cup green sand. I am averageing 3-4 ounces per plant under two 600 watt digital systems w/mondo hoods/lumatek ballast.

707 is pretty kick ass. I've started using their new line that has ground seashells etc. Love it. I amend it with about 30% coco also. They love it. But to answer your question, I don't add any other amendments and just feed half strength with the botanicare line (por grow, pro bloom, liquid karma, cal-mag). Works GREAT.

Interesting would love to see more feed back on this thread. A friend told me gotta watch out with the roots can have bugs and gnats in it he said. I dont know if its true or not. Said he found them in is fox farms and the stuff isnt sterlized. Tell me your guys opinions! PLants look good though man keep it up!

Im growing auto ak, 5 plants total -- 1 looks stellar, 1 looks darn good, 2 look ok, 1 guy looks like he wants to die. They are 4 weeks old, and I have fed them twice. I even flushed them last week.. and still one looks like I pissed on him. Daddy is not treating his kids properly...

From what I was told, Roots is pretty mild and requires nutes, but from my experience, it seems that it is a little hot. ( My feedings have been 1/4 strength )

The 707 mix has almost no nutrient base, so what you're probably seeing is the result of deficiencies, not burn. Obviously, I don't know your skill level or what experience you have with other mixes, but that's my $.02.

I was just at the supply shop yesterday pricing stuff out for this years grow. I was asking about soils and the guy was recommending the 707 over FFOF.It was cheaper for a larger bag( appx $5 less for appx 25% more than FFOF), the guy was saying that it was a "lighter" mix, would only feed for 2-3 weeks vs. FFOF 4 weeks,but essentially the same stuff. Seeing how Im gonna experiment with maxing out nutes this yr that wasnt a concern for me.The price diff is a plus, Im doing a couple 5 gal grows along with 2 10 gal smart pots for grapes and a few other various containers with veggies so saving on 5 or 6 bags will add up.

i had a grow with 707 it all went bad but I think my problem was wrong ph.. i could never get the PH balanced right and ended up loosing everything what ph are you feeding at? i am getting ready for a new grow i would really like to use 707 again but hesitant or could be that im just a noob here is a pic of my 707 grow before it went bad

I use the regular roots organics and love it. On occasion, I will get a batch with a lot of knats so watch for that. Its because they dont sterilize it which I see as a good thing. I talked to them over the phone a year or so ago and basically, the 707 holds more water than the regular; that was about the only difference so if your gonna add perlite or anything to it, you might consider just getting the regular version. It works very well for me.

Absolutely!

I use 707 by itself for my vegging plants through week 3. Then I transplant to super soil and use filtered (chlorine/chloramine free) water only until harvest.

Here is the super soil recipe I use:

1 3cu ft bag 707
1 3.8cu ft bag Sunshine 4 organic
1/2 4cu ft bag Fox Farm big and chunky perlite

2 cups sparetime blood meal (N)
2 cups sparetime bone meal (P)
2 cups sparetime kelp meal (K)
1.5 cups sparetime trace mineral additive (K+Ca/Mg)
1 cup sunleaves soil sweetner (Dolomite)

This makes exactly enough total mix to transplant 18 plants from 2g buckets to 5g buckets.

Easy, tasty, clean, organic buds. I'm not sure why everyone doesn't grow like this.

Perlite. 707 is made for outdoor growing, so drainage needs to be improved when using it indoors.

I grew auto ak exclusively for a year and found she'd grow just fine on MGO, castings and perlite. I fed her quarter strength chemical nutes. She really doesn't like too much nutes. But she also doesn't like to have too wet soil. If your leaf tips are browning then you've definitely reached the max nutes point. Got pics?

So I think I figured out what my issue is... I am having cal/mag deficiencies. And that is most likely due to the fact my ph is way off. I then tested a blank pot of 707, flushed with ph'd water.. and took a reading of the run off. It measured 5.2....not good. I then did a flush of all my plants... all with runoff readings between 5 and 5.5.... not good. Conclusion, Roots 707 is acidic as hell. I decided to run a test and put some lime in the mix. I mixed 1 cup to 4 gal. and my runoff reading was only slightly better.. 5.6. Any suggestions for getting my soil to runoff at 6.5??

Just wait. 1 cup of lime in 4 gal of mix is way plenty. I use 1 cup in 1CuFt (7.5 gal) of mix.

Powdered dolomite lime takes at least 2 weeks to start working. The pellets, even longer. You just can't add it and expect immediate results, but it will work.

This is organics, not hydro with chem nutes. You do something and it takes a couple of weeks to see results, not overnight or even a few days. This is why stuff is added well before the plant actually needs it.

Check that test bucket every few days for a couple of weeks and you will see the pH come up, right to the sweet spot.
