So some of my friends came over later last night, all classical musicians like myself. We were talking about Gustaf Holst because we recently played The Planets suite. As we were talking and ripping on the new pipe the conversation shifted to the Greek Gods and Goddesses, because contrary to the title of the piece The Planets is actually about the Greek Gods and not the planets. Which gave way to a mad wiki search to see how many strange gods we could come up with to write music about. Along the way I found Philotes, the minor Greek Goddess of affection, friendship, and sexual intercourse; the daughter of Nyx (night) and sister of Eros. (Talk about a a mother, daughter, daughter team... sorry.)
The other possible affiliation of the name is from Orson Scott Cards,
Ender's Game where a philotes are a subatomic particle, smaller than any other particle and they are the building blocks of all matter. I loved OSC's books, but I think I like the Greek Goddess of affection, friendship and sexual intercourse better.
Anyway, I decided that Philotes is the name of the new girl.
