The ph of our DWC just keeps raising within hours, we put the PH down into the water, tested it was 5.5, now checking about 2 hours later, it is now 7.9, We are really confused on what the problem is, their about 6 weeks into flowering, we are using FoxFarm nutes, and Earth juice as a down, 5 gallon painters buckets, please help as we can't find the solution to the problem.@!!

what is rez temp? beneficial microbes/bacteria could be the answer. Are your roots getting slimey and/or brown?

when pythium/bactiria take hold of your system it will cause huge ph swings like your having.
most of the time the swing is up! when the bennys in your water die off it will cause it to swing
down. brown roots/slime on roots in the res are a sign of pythium/bactiria so check for that asap.
if there is id start using 29% H202 at 7ML to 10ML per gal. if any of your nutes are organic and I
think FF has some sups that are organic, the H202 will kill the bennys in it. not sure about this earth
juice sound organic? and as posted above what is your res temp?

if he does have algae, it will feed off of the H2o2. h2o2 is a good preventative measure but once you have it won't kill the algae but only feed it.

I disagree ive come back from having bad pythium/bacteria/algae
it took some time but I feel it works if added every three days.
also plain bleach at 7drops per gal also works well.

the bleach was the cure not the h202. algae likes oxygen too. The only way i have beaten it was with 1 Tbsp of bleach per day per gal until it was gone.

And i could have started over from seed and been much further along by the time they recovered. Brown algae sucks.

It took a week to recover from my slime problem, dont know how bad you had it but it seemed to be
a simple fix. and your right it does suck! what sucks even more was I got it not from water temps
but from adding a organic to my res not knowing it was organic and blam slime and brown foam on
the water surface :)

i was using a chiller and still got it, tried physan20, that made a big bubble mess. that stuff is good for cleaning your equipment, but dont add it to a dwc setup..lol

The roots have brownish color in them, always assumed ot was the bat guano, no foam on top..

I have a lot of white hairs, few amber, not really good enough to cut them and let dry, of algae is the problem, and. It doesn't go away, will the hairs amber?

over time they will. but the bat guano is organic and high water temps spells out a bactiria issue
does your res water smell rotten?

I wouldn't say that the res is over 80 at any point, most of the time, its about 73-76

Although bacteria/algae/root root is much more likely the culprit, but if you are overfeeding or under feeding it can cause ph swings. You'd have to really be over or under doing it to cause such a crazy ph swing so it's unlikely. But thought I'd throw it out there any way.

Yea, Its one of the three you mentioned, clumps of slimy roots are hanging and looking real bad. Going to have to just fight the PH swings for another week. Then do final phase and cut them. Or are the roots just going to cause a halt in growth? ALL the roots aren't infected, just spots..

its alittle late in the game to be treating with beneficials, and 73 to 76f is way to warm,
I like sterile over beneficials its just a faster fix. and to answer your Q on if it will stunt
your growth well it will. bleach or H202 is the only fix in my opion

get rid of brown roots first. I don't think it is too late for beneficials. If you change your rez and sterilize it then add the beneficials your babies will come back but they will be slow growin for a few weeks
